This manga has great starting material: good art work, pacing, plot, and characters. The characters and the direction of the story do not follow the shoujo (or even josei) standard, but are interesting and give the whole story greater depth. However, the ending is very obviously rushed, and there is plenty of room for greater development. It is not that the ending is completely without merit, but it gives no feeling of resolution. Maybe the alternate story is more complete (though from the looks of it, apart from the ending, it is the worse of the two). It is like getting to eat a delicious desert and then having it fall into a puddle before you are halfway done.

man that's not enough romance, too much politics, sigh i get bored already, wonder how old is the knight actually, since he was the grandfather's right hand man...oh well, love the drawings, all the characters are drawn very prettily, and ahh the characters' personalities are interesting, stern knight and smart princess, hmm i like~

Seeing that this is a shoujo, I was expecting the princess to end up with the knight at the end, but there was nothing at all. The story didn't even ended with her succeeding the throne. It's like the agenda of the story wasn't reached, no matter how interesting the story may be (or not in this case), if the ending is crappy, the story is crappy too.

It seemed very bouncy at first, like the mangaka was trying to cram in far too much info into the first two chapters (to mitigate the length of the story). They were great characters, beautiful art! It's always such a shame (for me at least) to see a good storyline and good characters cut short by the amount of chapters. They can only live so long as the length of the story.

The heroine is sharp and level headed, something I like to see. The plot isn't all shallow, and there's an interesting premise to such. There are some cliches you see in shoujo, but mostly plot wise. The heroine steers clear from most of them (thankfully) but she isn't without some funny flaws, which in my opinion adds more to her character

The drawings are beautiful and the plot is not as shallow as I initially thought. I also like the fact that the female protagonist is not a fool, as they are usually portrayed.
I will continue to follow this series for a while, and hopefully my expectations will come true.
