One of the Better Isekai Stories
by LazyReviewer

Rating: 7.4  / 10.0
At first it doesn't seem that way, the goddess not mentioning for people to get "limit break" to save their lives is absolutely atrocious. I will also point out there are 5 other goddesses who do the same. Yeah, it's dumb. But seeing as how this is part of the start of the story, it's bearable.

And beyond that, this is one of the most competent authors I've seen. Tropes and seeming contrivances are given reasons and foreshadowing, so they aren't actually contrivances. And the author has done well to remember things that were written previously so that plot holes are avoided.

As proof of this, I will respond to the points made by the review below me.

- Yeah, not telling people about "limit break" is dumb, I agree. It's the only genuinely bad part of the story. But that is neither the premise nor the setting, it is just a bit of bad world building.

- The girl needed to be saved so many times because
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the guild master is intentionally giving her—as well as other adventurers who have promising futures—jobs that are too difficult for their rank
. This is literally foreshadowing to some of the plot.

- The guild master is not quite who you think he is.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He's possessed by a demon or something
. This behavior was only noticed by someone 1) willing to go against their boss and 2) because the guild master expected the girl to fail and when she didn't, his real personality slipped through. He's gotten everyone else the first time, so his deeds have been suspicious but not so obvious as to spoil the plan.

- So the first girl likes him because he's strong and saved her life a few times. And she isn't completely throwing herself at him for just romantic reasons. She likes being alive.

Not like the guild receptionist, who is doing what many girls in this medieval fantasy world do and joined the guild as a receptionist to find someone like the MC to marry. So guild receptionist is a job for girls to find guys... which is close to reality (not getting married because of romantic love) for many marriages before the 20th century. It's closer to historical accuracy than most people realize.

The third girl
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Is possessed by a demon or something and is the actual matermind behind the plot to destroy the most fortified human settlement in the region
. And even before that, she's one of the strongest adventurers who does kick butt. Hardly useless.

- While the MC's skills at the beginning are convenient, they are part of the initial luck roll that just about every character in any story gets. Seriously, pick just about any story and ask yourself what the odds are that the MC got into whatever mess to start with. They all hit the literary jackpot to start their stories.

Afterwards, the MC can and does add skills he needs on the fly, and we know he can do this because he has a list of abilities and chooses specific ones from that list that seem useful.

It's not bad writing. Well, the goddesses killing so many people at the beginning is. And there are some choices the artist made that kind of ruined some of the foreshadowing.

But overall? One of the better and most competently written isekai in the genre if one isn't skimming the details. Definitely worth checking out.

Brainless power fantasy

Your typical run-of-the-mill isekai with absolutely nothing noteworthy about it whatsoever.

- The entire premise is dumb. The goddess who sent the MC couldn't just
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Tell the human to buy the "limit break" skill instead of just sending them to their deaths?
Is she stupid or evil? Also, NONE of the previous humans who were sent to that world decided to buy the skill? Or was Toru the only guy who was even sent with any SPs to start off with? Why? The entire setting is just stupid and makes no sense.
- MC always manages to arrive just in time to save the girl. As of chapter 33 the MC has now saved the girl...how many times? First time, okay, maybe it was just luck. But it keeps happening. At first I could overlook it but it just became more and more annoying.
- Villain is a bumbling buffoon. Constantly fucks up and sends useless minions to do his bidding, who are also incompetent morons. The MC is somehow able to see through the plot of this guy who has been in this world for so long, despite having just arrived in this world...it's just so stupid.
- The girls are all completely useless. Every female character in this story (35 chapters so far) have been described as basically parasites trying to party up with, or marry, the MC, in order to take advantage of his potential. It's honestly kind of disturbing.
- Too many convenient things happen for the MC. He learns skills left and right that just happen to be useful for fighting whichever enemy he is about to encounter next. In the middle of battle he will just suddenly pull out new skills that were never mentioned before. Urgh. It's just bad writing.
