that the love interest chiro fell in love with MC as a child, stalked him to the same city, opened a practice in the city for the sole purpose of waiting for the day MC would find and need a chiro, then slowly used his influence and reputation as a well-known and attractive chiro to revolve the MC's life around him.

That sounds insane! We even hear the internal monologue of the love interest slowly trapping the MC into situations that depend on him, which adds to the insanity of it all. After listing all this out, it might be a wonder how they go into a consenting relationship. But assuming the MC isn't hearing what the audience is reading, it makes sense given how many relationships are formed off one person's obsession and use of the internet.

I take off a point for not answering why it would take so long for the love interest to just contact the MC on his own despite having a fairly positive childhood relationship with each other and the current connection with the coworker that convinces MC to go to the clinic.
