I appreciate the "mechanic"

I've read this while high, so the consistency of properly understanding the story might've been somewhat off..
With that said, I feel like the author was, at least somewhat, aiming to achieve within the reader what he didn't really achieve for me, for the reader to somewhat get absorbed. A substantial lack of drama is what I think is the problem for me. But it is easily explained by how when something is norm, you grow to accept it much sooner. But hey, that still leaves the extreme, unrealistic stuff, which was done to the girls and which I dislike.
But the concept of the story, I like it a whole lot. I wish I'd know of more stories like this, delving in to "conceptual societies", with them hopefully delivering in the emotional aspect better than this one. This was for me, for the major part, perverse ranting by the author, and I very much support that, but I didn't perfectly click with it. I feel like the whole first story, the one which
spans from the first page 'till almost the end of the book (I don't particually remember), should've been told more episodically, because it didn't deliver really as a larger plot. I was high though, should reread perhaps. But nvm., plenty of stuff to go through.
