OK, so it's been around a year since I started reading "Dengeki daisy" and now I've read up to vol 8, so I think it's time I wrote a proper review about the series.
First thing, I have to admit I was attracted to the "romance" and typical shoujo stuff at the beginning of the story (well I'm a girl after all and it's not like I can forever abandon shoujo even if I've matured out of the "shoujo period" a girl has to go through at some time in her otaku life).
AND Kyousuke-sensei also stated that this series was supposed to be a 3-chapter publication at 1st, so it certainly couldn't really have a serious plot or characters development. That's why you might feel like it's a bit cliché if you've only read a few beginning chapters. This is probably the reason a lot of people found the manga "cliché and boring" and decided to quit it (they're really retared impatient IDIOTS).
However, as you can see, right now there've been 9 vols published and the manga's one of the highest-rating series in all manga sites and all manga genres. To put it that far, it's undeniable that the author had definitely managed to create sth special, or at least sth that would interest readers, or else it would be another shoujo-failure right away.
I'm not saying ALL of you out there agree with this, but come on, let's face it, this series is mind-blowing and I have to say the story's actually quite deep while not being too dark or angsty. Right now I'm at vol 8 where the characters' pasts have been unveiled and I realize all the details that have been mentioned in earlier volumes actually have meanings behind them and they connect logically to the story later on. Nothing's unnecessary and everything's all well-put.
The art isn't bad, and in fact it's quite nice, although not too superb or eye-catching, but somehow I feel it gives the story a depth that way, as the characters are real people and nothing's too fake or affected like many other shoujo mangas.
All in all, in my opinion, this is sth different (well not at 1st but you gotta be patient, come on) and I thoroughly enjoy reading till now. You should DEFINITELY give it a try it and decide if you like it or not later.
