In a distant future where almost no life remains on Earth, a single garden glows faintly green amid drifting gray ash. Within it live a few surviving creatures and a modified human named Adam.

One day, a demon and his contractor visit the garden. Noticing Adam’s loneliness, they cut off one of his fingers, shaping it into a new living being before leaving again.

Alone together in the garden, Adam raises this new life and passes down his knowledge. Yet even as he feels comfort in its presence, he cannot ignore the strange aversion he feels toward a being born from his own flesh.

As the new life grows increasingly obsessed with him, Adam tries to keep his distance. At last, their tension reaches a breaking point.

“What does it matter?”
“Is that why I was never given a name?”
