Before anything I must say the art on this series is great. It tries to mix various styles: some have ver defined lines, others have a watery feel, the sky/the past is a bit more realistic... For example the Mc and her friends have an inhuman appearance and are drawn slightly different each panel.
The author messes up the world-building and throws the MC lots of info she shouldn't have at the start, before chapter 5: they've already set both her friends are magical girls (one transformed out of pitty when she was dying and the other is so obviously has a broken heart as pupils like the bad ones), what they fight against comes from the feelings of previous magical girls that were created to stop world problems (like world war). Their powers come from technology (they even explicitly say it's from a technology "generations ahead" ). All while throwing random sentences in English (even in the Japanese version) making it cringey.
Now the series itself and the magical girls are usually based on the premise the MC is apparently normal in the first chapters (or otherwise set why he is different) and the when he gains the powers what he wants to change, their feelings and some conflict. But now the author was so uncreative he wasn't able to imagine what a normal teen would do, not even for the intro that lasts one chapter.
I mean the author tried and failed to create a normal FMC or even her entourage. She wants to be a magical girl (even though the aren't supposed to exist); all her friends are orphans; acts weirdly relaxed in all situations (no matter if her arm is cut of, the truth about the world is revealed, a random war magical girl from 100 years ago appears, a bus full of people kill each other ... she doesn't care). Making the stakes very low.
Lastly there's the same elitism feel of PPPPPP I mean instead of going for a soft magical system they over-explained hard magical system and leave the tech at "you're to dumb to understand". And saying that enemies get stronger for everyone you defeat is the same as saying I wan't to drag out this series all I can.
