nothing ever happens - the manga

the manga promised you crazy story with crazy premise, a "love story like no other", at first it seemed like its going that way... but then nothing happens. at some point the MC said "i want heroine to love and hate me in equal measure", but he doesnt do anything, nothing to make her mad, nothing to make her fall deeper in love, what happened is the opposite of all that, its as if the author changed his mind midway and decided to end it quickly i could see how it would be a good story if the mc toyed around with heroine's feelings to get adrenaline kicks and slowly falling in love as she does more insane things, but instead... it changed course midway. there is no escalations.. there is nothing, its as if the yandere i see in the beginning was a lie, she doesnt do much, a yandere who doesnt dare to even just kiss? a yandere who doesnt scream and cry desperately? doesnt get jealous? what is all this?! not to mention the MC's supposedly deep trauma that went on for many years is just resolved by just a few vapid dialogues. as a yandere lover, im glad that the yandere got to be happy but im very much disappointed by the plot.

It's pretty good. It has a lot of twists that one wouldn't expect while also making the characters explore some topics that I haven't seen done before.

Yandere Redemption? I'm Not Sure What to Think...

To be fair, it did keep my attention for the entirety of this manga's run, but by the end of it, it was much different than how it started. For starters, this manga makes a total subversion of expectations regarding the yandere trope. Unfortunately, there's not much I can comment on without spoiling the plot and its accompanying surprises, since the manga is only 3 volumes long. The FL is

not at all what she seems and, If I remember correctly, is only perceived as being yandere, and isn't actually one. Volume 1 was set up to be an excellent twist on traditional yandere stories, since it's revealed early on that the ML, whom I thought was very unique in that he actually desires the FL and wants her to do her worst to him because he is a thrill-seeking daredevil, which plays in to the story's conclusion. Basically the ML ! got a thrill from nearly dying after falling from a great height at a young age and seeks out dangerous/hair-raising situations to give him that rush again and uses the FL as a means to achieving that goal after hearing testimony from one of the FL's former friends about her dangerous and overly-attached behavior and creepy personality, but once he learns that she isn't at all what her reputation assumed, he seeks suicide after a series of complicated discussions with the FL's sister. The FL, in how she was presented/introduced by the author, does a total 180 narratively, and ends up saving the ML from suicide and the two continue happily.

One final thought:

I was under the impression, after a certain chapter-ending cliffhanger, that the ML would actually exceed the FL in being a bigger yandere than she is, but this idea, whether intentional or not, was dropped. .

Overall, this manga had some interesting concepts that would have made it stand out above the rest of its genre, but many of them either did not come to fruition by failing expectations, were cut short too soon, or just dropped the ball in its execution. I'd still say that it's above average and will rate it as such, but I won't say the story is anything spectacular. In fact, it's disappointing in many regards, given what I've said already after collecting my thoughts about it a while ago after finishing my read.

light hearted yandere read

I actually really liked it, up until the end, which I found went for a happy but kind of unsatisfying end. It almost felt rushed/axed with how mc completely did a 180 on a dime. Would have preferred maybe a more tragic ending if it had retained the logic of MC's path rather than having him go back on his whole struggle almost at a whim.

Romcom that doesn't take any risks

The story doesn't really go anywhere in terms of characterization. Worst of all, the topic of suicide isn't really fleshed out; while the author could've gone for a social commentary, or a philosophical exploration of the subject, it just decided to go for the romcom with cheap cliffhanger route. I still read it to the end because it's quite short, but do go read something else if your backlog is backed up. This one's a flop.

the earlier chapter u got physico thriller genre comic but turn to cute slice of life make u wonder what will happen next. u are not bored the stories unpredictable and dark but not to dark i like it
