Beginning to understand this author

Many of this author's works have amazing premises. The art is always compelling and nice. However, the stories start solid then become vaguer and vaguer in terms of the character motivation and why they do things. Maybe I am a bit slow and don't really get it, but they act almost randomly. They're always stories about normal people with seemingly nothing to complain about, but still their lives feel hollow and unfulfilling lives -- mainly because they're ignoring their own problems in favor of focusing on people with more wretched lives than them. However, it's through the wretched lives of others -- and those people finding happiness within their circumstances and in all the things we take for granted -- that the leads realize their lives are hollow in a way or finally fully realize how unfair the world is, both to them and the wretched soul that they've encountered. Then, in a stroke of schadenfreude for themselves and everyone, they feel better that it's not only them and they have someone to share their condition with. Kind of like an "alone together"-type of situation. It comes off as vague to me since they don't resolve their issues...they meet someone, begin to show some sign of change, but just as quickly things dissolve or we enter a new situation that needs to be explored...but then the manga ends before we do. You're left thinking, "Well?! Then what?! Does he..?! Do they...?! Where is...?!" but know you won't get the answer because the manga is over.

Oshimi's leads are always a little off, but generally normal people (not twisted and overly demented), which makes them all the more compelling and you want to see what they do next. They seem like they're all going to snap; you feel that a lot with this manga and she low-key does. I actually loved that she did because I rolled my eyes so heavy at what made her throw hands, lol. It was a little cathartic.

I am just kind of beginning to appreciate this author's style of manga (in a way it's similar to other authors I like, but I find their stories to be more solid but their conclusions are just very open-ended, like Ikeumi Ryou). and I quite enjoyed this one.
