I recently discovered that FKMT has created a new manga and promptly caught up on all 22 chapters released so far.
"Nikaidou Hell Golf" explores what it means to be an adult, portraying this theme effectively throughout the series. The creator's wisdom - gained obviouisly from his life experience - shines through the characters and would resonate with any adult reader. He uses exemplification, as he typically does, to get his points across.
The protagonist, Nikaidou, is a middle-aged man striving to gain recognition in the world of golf. His defining traits are his dreamy nature and perseverance.
The manga shares similarities with FKMT's other series, "Legend of the Strongest Man, Kurosawa." However, I find "Nikaidou Hell Golf" to be more entertaining, focused, and rewarding. While "Kurosawa" often slipped into silliness, which might not have been the intention, "Nikaidou Hell Golf" maintains a tighter pace. Unlike FKMT's long-running series "Kaiji," which often stretches events across many chapters, "Nikaidou Hell Golf" progresses more briskly—though it’s understandable given "Kaiji's" decades-long run.
I do recommend giving it a try, especially if you’re an adult. You may find that it resonates with you and perhaps even imparts some of life's wisdom.
I didn't expect the recent plot twists, and I'm eager to see what unfolds next.
