The mangaka rushed it waay too fast, but i gotta admit though its a pretty damn good plot as well. The anime was exciting but the ending was a huge disappointment. I agree pandaslayer0''s comment hugely on this series..I prefer Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, Yu yu hakusho etc..

I was about to write a long hatred-filled comment, but then I read pandaslayer0's comment. His comment describes exactly the way I feel about this manga. Listen to him, as his comment weigh no less than the hard cold truth. I can't see a single aspect of this manga worth reading. Artwork? Super-Suck. Storyline? Mega-Lame. Characterization? Ultra-Annoying. Hell, even the jokes is pitiful. Seriously, the jokes are dry and confusing, most of the time I need 5 seconds of brainstorming before I finally realize that the author is trying to make a joke. What is more pitiful than telling a joke, but fail to make people laugh at it?

Flame of Recca, Ladies and Gentlemen, is - without a doubt - the second most overrated manga ever. Yep the second most, not the most overrated manga. That honor goes to Naruto.

though i realize that flame of recca is insanely popular, sadly have to ask why, becuase i sure didnt like it.
factors such as artwork aside - fine, i get it. its also one of his first works, and it was a long time ago, my score for this manga [a 4] shall not include that - though just for the record... its really bad people...

but what is it i dislike the most about the manga?
the protagonist. i dont think i can describe my loathing of him fully in words. i cant stand him. he's arrogant, threatens to kill people at a whim - without judging ANYTHING, he has it incredibly easy compared to other characters in the manga [in battles and such], is pissed off at Kurei [the baddie] for no reason - he basicially just attacks the guy. its disgusting really. i dont know if its just me, but i really dont like him.

but that being said, though the manga has good guys that are practically bad guys [with their arrogance, the fact that only THEY can kill people, whereas if the bad guys injure one of them, ohmygod, its instant death threats], and the bad guys are good guys [getting wimpy and changing sides] this manga has one gem.
and by god, if this manga didnt have this guy, i swear i wouldnt have read past the 3 volumes [which took a lot of effort and a great deal of skimreading]:
Kurei. now THATS a character. awesome badground story, cool character design, and personality that STAYS evil [or at least "on the side" of evil]. he is the sole reason i could read this manga, seriously. its the only reason i wouldnt consider giving this a 2.5

great manga worth the read 🙂

i was not so happy about the ending becuase i felt like the author rushed it. it woulda been soooo much better if the ending focused on Yanagi and Recca i just knoow it 🙂

READ THIS it is a great mix of action/adventure/comedy/romance yes romance even though its not on the list for genre... dunno why, but there DEFINATLY IS romance in this. great for anyone looking for a hilarious adventure with some romance and fire kicked in

there is also excellent character development in this manga 🙂 u can see the progress they went through not just relying on weapons

well i cant give this a 10/10 although it deserved it for a great overall story, the ending just made me dissapointed. it isnt that bad but i just rather about Yanagi and Recca 🙂 woundnt most people?

i finally got around to finish reading this. and it's really good, i didn't read the first part because ive watched the anime and i just continued where it left off. the manga seemed more mature than the anime counterpart and it made it better for me. for anyone who loves shounen like naruto, bleach, etc. this is one of the classics, read it. and try yuyu hakusho as well.

Early fighting style

In Naruto, Bleach, and other manga that revolves around violence, there are many characters so the reader could appeal to at least one of them. Flame of Recca is an earlier version of it. It's not like DBZ, where out of nowhere you get more power. It's a little more realistic, but if you're into the flashy attacks, you'll like this. At the beginning, the art SUCKS! It was so bad that it hurts. However, as the artist kept working on it, the art gradually got better and better, and at the end it was really good.

I love flames of recca so much..i didn't expect the twist and turns in the story! I gives you the feeling of anticipation and excitement! I loved it and the drawings are very nice..!!!!!I love kurei!!! Definitely worth the read!!

A solid entertaining read

Flame of Recca certainly delivers on the action portion of the Action-Shonen genre. Its a light entertaining read, easily understood and filled with memorable characters. The artwork, noticeably improves over the course of the series; looking at the first volume and last, side by side, is like night and day. Flame of Recca's weakness lies in its inability to deliver the emotional punch. It lingers on the edge of really being a great, deep Manga, but cops out at key points, leaving you feeling sort of cheated. If you take in to account that this series is over 10 years old right now, perhaps it is unfair to judge it by todays standards. Nevertheless, Flame of Recca certainly is an entertaining read, and because of it's length(33 Volumes), should prove to be a welcome distraction for quite some time.

absolutely what to say. This manga kicks so much ass (literally as well) that I would/will read it times and times again. I like this kind of shounen - less talk, more action 🙂 The ending was a bit bittersweet, depending on one's expectations, but still, it takes my words away.
