Not very worth the read

Art: 8/10
It was pretty good, and if anything, I'd recommend it purely for the art. The chickens are quite well drawn, especially at the start, where there are more grotesque closeup shots of the chickens' mouths and eyes etc. The MCs are also pretty well drawn, although it's pretty stereotypical where the good characters are drawn beautifully, and the bad characters are overweight, bumbling and/or disfigured assholes. The little mochi children are quite adorable, though.

The gore is actually also pretty well drawn. Vivid details of blood and entrails (although it was visibly lessened at the end, since the more gory images seemed to disturb people, as mentioned in the authors note at the end) and acts of violence towards the chickens.

Characters: 3/10
There isn't very much character development. Aside from the MC1 has a heroic personality and wants to save everyone, and MC2 has a more twisted personality and sense of justice to boot, it all feels very surface level. Sure, their goals and ambitions and backstories are shown, but it doesn't seem like they really evolve much past a certain point. Even so, a few of the characters seem to have rather shakey personalities, as if the author was trying to create a specific personality into that character, but have random ideas of "Oh, I want the character to act like this as well."

Another thing that really takes away any tension- everyone's practically immortal. No matter what happens to them, they'll stand back up and be perfectly fine in the next few minutes.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Because a chopping 2 fingers off without seeking the proper medical treatment afterwards is no big deal, and so is getting bitten in the neck by a chicken. They'll just stand right back up.

I'm not looking for much realism in mangas where previously (mostly) harmless animals start killing droves of people just because, but really, this manga really pushes it way too far. More tension could really be built up if the characters really have the threat of death looming over them, instead of them springing back up like a weed.

Also, another thing that stands out to me in this manga is how all characters basically refer to the single character as a hero. So much so that most other characters are simply delegated to the background- although they're given screen time, they're plenty forgettable (I sometimes think the author forgets about them, too, tbh...) and don't really make a mark on the series as a whole.

While it's commendable that the author is trying to include more characters, they're just kinda background plots to drive the story forward. Sometimes it feels as if X happened to a certain character if only to get them into a specific scenario that will drive the story forward.

Plot: 4/10
It was somewhat interesting before the story hit the climax of the main chicken showdown and everything after that. Granted, they're mostly running from A to B, but there was the tangible idea of danger, including
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
meeting the first main antagonist, which arguably is the worst villain in the entire manga,
and there's plenty of potential, there.

If there were better tension buildup (specifically, removing happy coincidences where something/someone miraculously saves the MCs at the last moment) and less filler, it overall would've been a much more enjoyable read. However, that's not what we get, so.

Overall, it had an interesting plot, which is why I stuck through it until the end. Adults turning into HUGE killer chickens? Sign me up. But the further I got into the series, the more boring it became. There isn't good plot and character development (it's there, but it isn't very good) and the pacing was pretty choppy. Plus the MC immortality really gets to you after a while. But really, 60 chapters is quite long, and the manga really could've been shortened, with more content being taken out to make space for the (extremely disappointing) conclusion.

It was an interesting premise, and I stuck with it until the very end, however, it failed to deliver. The characters are boring, the art is so-so, and the plot seems like it was written chapter to chapter with no real direction. BUT the children were adorable enough to earn a 3/10
