With this story being fantasy, moments where the female lead is shown as a squid/monster makes me feel like she really is an eldritch horror.
Usually, in CEO type manhuas, one would expect the perfect and bossy (but really overbearing and takes advantage of the FL) ML and the innocent and cute (but really annoying and/or useless) FL. But this manhua subverts all those expectations and instead gives a really interesting and compelling story. The FL isn’t useless and she strives hard to get what she wants and is very academically talented. The ML also isn't some perfect guy since he has many flaws and he’s willing to try and fix them to better himself.
I got into the story expecting pretty basic stuff but it's nothing if not original. The plot is amazing, the storytelling is inspired, the characters are fascinating, loved it!
I got hooked on this. I binged it all in one sitting, which rare for me, since I have a short attention span with any manga longer than 50 chapters XD. The characters are non-conventional, the plot twists are great that it'll leave you wanting for more. Like already mentioned, there was issues in revelations and a couple of character's motivations due to the not-so-great pacing plus skipping. The female lead really is one of my faves, although she does at some point falls to the typical heroine at some points (mary sueish), but she keeps surprising you. Love doesn't make her go weak at all~ As for the male lead, love his complexity. Highly recommended for something a bit new for shoujo fans.
If I had to sum the webtoon up in one word it would be interesting. It held my attention and had me devouring each chapter but honestly i couldn't fully tell you why. I liked the art (though the proportions were weird sometimes) and the characters were all very intresting. It was nice seeing lead characters that don't fit into typically over used tropes. I enjoyed that this was like nothing I have ever read before. That being said, boy was it difficult to follow a lot of the times. Honestly the first 60 chapters what is happening and what the lead males goal is is pretty unclear. Then random time skips start happening in the webtoon and this continues throughout the series. To the point that it almost seems like there may have been an error in uploading the chapters out of order but i don't think thats what happened. The artist just be like that. There are constant abrupt cuts from one characters view point to the next and the story line often seems to go on side tangents. In the end you kind of come away with only a vauge understanding of what just happened. That being said, its still an interesting read.
