Description
"I'll take an alpha who's weaker than me over my dead body!" Omega second-in-command Yoshiharu is ordered by the boss of his gang to interview prospective alpha husbands from other gangs. But Yoshiharu is as unruly as a wild horse, and one of the frustrated candidates slips him a drug that forces him into heat. FULL OF ANGST!!! This feels slow burn romance and very frustrating to read (on a good note). I love stories like this that couples have different perspective in love and don’t jump into a relationship just because they know how they feel about each other or if one of them have a hint what the other feels.
The seme (Makoto) is so cute and during the story, I want to squish him so bad out of “good” frustration. I mean, he’s too loyal to the uke (Yoshiharu) which is a strong omega. Clap! Clap! Clap!
I LOVE BOTH CHARACTERS that I wished this was longer but it was enough for me though. Plus the extra or special chapters were so cute. I didn’t know that I have a thing for stories involving yakuzas. To think that this is an omegaverse too which surprises me because I kinda find omegaverse stories very toxic. This one is full of angst that masochists like me, will go through again when we want to cry so bad.

I really love power bottom but I saw his perspective during the story, and I think I can relate to him because he knows that the person who kissed him when he was tricked to drink the “heat potion”, he knew that it was his fated pair. Didn’t expecting that it was seme, he was kinda glad to know it too. But also, very hurt to think that he feels that the seme doesn’t believe when in fact, seme was just too in love with him that he (seme) wants him (uke) to be happy with another alpha because he (seme) thinks that he’s not good for him (uke).

Love the characters and their dynamics, but the last 2 chapters were not my favorites. The end is kind of meh, I just think this couple deserved better.

edit on re-reading in 2023: agree with papaya that the ending kinda fizzled out. the premise definitely had a lot more that could be explored, and i would have liked more sexual tension, but oh well. the art remains fantastic.
