I understand wanting to go home and being angry at basically being abducted, but there's no reason to be a sullen asshole about it to all the OTHER kidnapped humans. What a whiny little twat.
The Unfathomable is pretty understandable from a human's persepective, if what we're being told is true and is not just MC's very prejudiced interpretation.
Humans don't see dogs as equal to humans (no matter what the dog mommy and daddies say) but will literally murder other humans for them.
The Unfathomable are pretty much the same. They adore and love, and will make all kinds of fucked up excuses to save humans who've already committed cold blooded, premeditated murder against absolutely, 100% innocent fellow human beings. Because, to them, humans simply don't know any better and can't be held responsible for their actions.
Even if humans attack and kill one of the Unfathomables. Which is what MC did to a completely innocent Unfathomable. Yet, humans would still be coddled, protected and forgiven.
The same exact excuses certain humans will use for dogs that attacked and killed humans. "It's not the dog's fault that it mauled that infant! There are no bad breeds! Just bad owners! Don't kill it! Punish the infant's mother for failing to be a parent!"
Thankfully, these humans aren't in charge of these kinds of animals. Those dogs are rightfully put to death for attacking/killing a human.
In the Unfathomable's case, even when MC murdered one of THEM, his owner retaliated by murdering the brother of the killed Unfathomable...granted that brother attacked MC's owner in revenge for his brother's death.
Except, none of them blamed MC. Who caused all of this mess.
This feels like the epitome of "unreliable narrator" type stories. MC as the narrator is incredibly incompetent and prejudiced. Not to mention his POV is really annoying.
I can't stand him pouting and whining the entire time. If he was more determined in an honest way like, say, instead of sneaking off he could have just told his Unfathomable owner that he's looking for a new one. Someone who is going back to Earth so he can return as well.
Considering how accommodating his Unfathomable is I fully expect it to understand and even help out with his wishes. They could have gone on an adventure together, to look for another Unfathomable, because, oh, guess what?!
MC's owner ALSO needs to head back towards earth anyway. So, it would actually be in MC's owner's best interest to help MC.
Instead we get this meandering stupidity of a story because MC doesn't want to trust anyone. I'm still reading because everyone else around MC is fascinating.
EDIT: I keep getting this weird deja vu that I've read this manhwa in a manga-format. If this was made in black and white manga-style like Made in Abyss or any of Tsutomu Nihei's works it would immediately shoot to a 10 for me.
It 100% deserves a more dramatic, detailed, gorgeous, creepy and eerie art style.
I wish someone would give it the One Punch Man treatment.
