A freelance detective makes trades with his clients instead of taking fees. This is a story about his messy life and the part-time assistant who has to put up with him and his strange ways in solving a case.
Oneshot (Complete)

I've not been bothered by other messy apartments in manga, but I guess filth-related insects such as flies (when they don't go away for frame after frame after frame...) are deal-breakers for me. Too bad, because much of this oneshot is the kind of stuff I really like, plus it's well done.
The fly also focused attention on the major problem: the unsympathetic & unengaging protagonist. I didn't like him, I didn't hate him, I didn't even want to slap him or change him. I just wanted to get past him to the story. He sucked all the energy out of each page.
Without that character, I would have rated this a good 7+ rather than a meh 5, but it's a tribute to the rest of the story that I didn't rate this a bleh 3 while really wanting to give it a barf 1.
