Description
She is a fat ugly girl with a short body; she's a girl who used to be a loner, loser and always hated by everyone. It only takes one of a stranger's ‘abracadabras’ to turn her into a beauty and to stop the bullying.

Though it comes with a price: she can’t kiss "him" or go under any rain, or she'll become ugly again.

Why...aren't they translating this?

I started reading this from 2010 and for every four months since then, I have been checking for new chapters. Though this manga runs on the "teenage drama" lines, I enjoyed reading it when I was a teenager and still do as I remember it to be such a fun story then. Maybe I won't enjoy it as much, if I were to pick up the manga now, when I have quite grown out of shoujo, but the old times come back to you and you want to relish them.

Major spoiler here, I have read the following plot about how this manga ends in some website I don't remember. Here goes,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
As Mioh(the beautiful one) plots her revenge against the male lead by making him fall for her,(sorry forgot his name, lets just call him "the bully") she herself, in return, falls in love with him. When they kiss, the spell is broken and he realizes(oh yeah, he HAS fallen for her (the beautiful Mioh) at this point) it was all a farce, he feels betrayed and walks out of her life. Many years pass, Mioh, devoid of the magic that makes her beautiful, has moved on to a new city to start her life afresh. She is no longer pretty but has lost weight and is living her life with a positive attitude. Meanwhile, "the bully" comes to an understanding that he cannot stay away from either the fat-Mioh or the beautiful-Mioh. He gets back to her and they live happily ever after.

Well, that's how the story ends, anyway, still got my fingers crossed for new releases.
RECOMMENDED.

Firstly i love the concept, every girl would love a cinderella moment.

It is realistic to a certain degree in the part where people bully other people.
It does happen but not to THAT degree most of the time, but the people being bullied really do get hurt and many transfer out the school. (i have seen it)

Back to the story, the main character is pretty likable since she plays the tragic heroine part and basically there isn't something very annoying about her.
The two guys are really hot and you can tell that the bully loves the fat her even though he denies it.
Weird but its fine.

I recommend it to anyone who loves beauty transformation mangas <3

...as in both men should trigger your fight/flight instincts and disgust you.

I remember reading HMR's work when I was younger, mainly during middle school iirc, and even then thinking something was a little off in the "romance". This coming from a kid who later read all of Twilight.

I've been re-reading some older series though, and decided to try giving this a shot again. I mean, maybe I stopped reading it bc I got busy. Maybe it wasn't that bad.
I was wrong. It IS that bad. It's terrible. It's horrific.

Even disregarding the body shaming, which is a humongous elephant to shove aside, the romanticized abuse is nauseating. The main character isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer (she's not smart, okay), and she definitely has no concept of "self care", but she doesn't deserve This.

I'd say after decades reading shoujo, I'm fairly desensitized (read: numbed) to the horrors of Shoujo Alpha Male tendencies, but.
This male lead is honestly one of the worst romantic interests I have EVER read.

Here are a couple things he does in the first couple of chapters:
1. He has his friends hold her in place so he can "test" his new pens by playing five finger fillet with her hands. He laughs and verbally abuses her while she sobs and shakes.
2. He bumps into her outside of school and promptly forces her into an alley with his friends. He then takes her bags of snacks and spills them onto the ground. He forces her onto all fours and threatens her with a beating by wooden stick unless she eats from the ground. He takes pictures.

Actual quotes from chapters 1-2: "Since pigs taste the best when they're made fun of." "That b**** has three years until she's free." "Yo! Super pig!!" "I live by bullying this girl." I think that's enough.

I can only assume that his wealth/family background and looks are supposed to eclipse his violence, verbal/physical abuse, and repugnant personality.

But no thanks. I'mma take a Hard Pass on this, yet again, and hope no young minds are actually being influenced by this drivel.

This is my favorite HMR! I really like it and recommend it to everyone.
The supernatural element has always been my weak point and when coupled with a romantic drama, its almost irrestible for me hehhe,
so yeah, even though the story starts off as a disturbing one and some people might have strong opinions against the couple that eventually end up together, I think its worth reading for everyone who enjoys a good drama!

Terrible

Terrible characters, especially the two male leads. Can't believe the choice is between a serial cheater and liar, and a sadistic abusive asshole. The heroine is a dumbass with no self-respect. She keeps flip-flopping between the two guys despite the fact that she can't kiss the opposite sex. I mean, does she expect to marry them without ever kissing them? Does she expect to be an actor when she can't kiss on camera? And instead of thinking about her future, and maybe working out in her real body so she can gain some real confidence, she plans to live her life waiting for the other shoe to drop? She's a shortsighted idiot, and if her life wasn't so pitiful, I would hate her. I felt like reading something terrible and this fit the bill to the T.

Terrible story, terrible characters, terrible art. I highly recommend it.

it's a sort of twist (not really) to a fairty tale (sorta, because the ugly duckling isn't really a fairy tale). i like the beginning and i like how evil the guy is. obviously, he likes the pig girl... in a sort of freaky, twisted, evil way, but its almost childish to a certain extent

Spoiler (highlight to view)
i mean, if he didn't like her, why would he put her picture on his cellphone, even if it is a picture of her eating food off the floor, usually a person doesn't put a picture, no matter how horrifying that picture is, of a person on their cellphones unless the person is special to them... which makes me sort of shiver because it just shows how twisted he is. also, who would go to that extent just to bully someone and follow them to that school. i think that he's ashamed that he likes her and wants to "punish" her because she's ugly and he still likes her. but in the end, similar to cutie boy, which i also believe is another work of hwang mi ri, the bully gets the girl he bullied and somehow she'll put the guy's perspective of how he was "loving" the pigy girl in his own sort of twisted way"

overall, i look forward to how she'll explain his evil character, and hopefully it'll be cute like in Cutie Boy.

as for the girl, it's always fun to see low esteemed females learn their own strength over males, so i also look forward to that. again, this is just the beginning, so hopefully it ends well as well.

Hwang Mi Ri's works all show so much promise and works up to this big finale but the ends are always so disappointing. I see tons of her work that sound like they would be good reads but from the few I've read they've all had that same empty ending. :/

Wow, um... Definitely not your typical shoujo managa but not original either. I can't say I enjoy that asshole's behavior but it's quite funny how her life has taken a turn for the better. Maybe it will add to the satisfaction when she gets her revenge? I honestly don't know but I'll keep tabs on this manga.

This plot is cliche, wich doesnt mean nothing bad for itself, it depends of how the author develops the story.
The thing here are the characters: They all have some personal and mental issue, making them unconsistent, possesive, weird and scary if they were real. I dont see love in this story yet.
The main guy is really the worst with fat Mio, and if at the end she forgives him (and I think they will end up together), then she would show how low self respect has. She cant forgive someone who treat her that badly only because he likes her pretty appearence.
The other guy who trys to approach her, the famous one, also seems to have an obsession with her.
