I'm not that much into comedy mangas, but I did like this one. I cracked up at parts and it was pretty cute! Riku's so straight-forward! I can't help but love him, even if he pisses me off by being a cry-baby.
I do say, though: read the categories before you start something. I read this because my friend recommended it to me, and it's the total opposite of my yaoi style, so I say in advance that I won't be as gentle as the previous reviewers. Oh, and what about the category "masochist"? WHERE, exactly? Riku wasn't a proper maso, Nagi was just kidding when he said that!
Anyways, it didn't get much to me in the way it was supposed to. Didn't make me cry in its emotional parts. I know it's a funny manga, but the drama bits didn't made me care.
Well, I hate to dismiss the previous comments on this manga, but it's totally over rated by other people. It's not nearly as good as everybody said. Quite ordinary, not special in any way (plot, twist, depth or even characters) and not good enough to be rated 10 either. I'm sorry, but I've gotta say that if you've been in the yaoi road for a long time, this won't make you bite your nails in curiosity.
Opposed to other people's opinions, I did find it boring at parts and hard to continue for lack of interest. The only reason I actually read it till the end was thinking things like "oh, just a couple of chapters to go now, I should at least finish it". I'm not saying that it's bad, because it IS indeed worth reading...just don't get mislead by the reviews if you're already used to yaoi and expecting a precious gem every time you read one, like I am.
And what about the grave part? Just like Junjou Romantica's "Junjou Terrorist"! I'm sorry to say that, but she couldn't even bother to copy from a less famous manga?!
Now - and it suuuch a dirty thing - the reason I don't really like stories where the semes are virgins is because they get too excited and either cum to fast or need the uke's help to get going with the making out, the next step to take and such. This was no exception and to me it makes the sex scenes less enjoyable =/
The last chapter was to show their lovey-dovey life, but still, the ending was quite abrupt, which I didn't really get, but it's okay. I just missed a proper "I love you" coming from Nagi, even if it's cliché and his feelings were really clear (At that part, at least, because I really didn't understand the development of his feelings for Riku either).
Now, not to say only bad things and mostly to justify why I liked it: Nagi's past is really good. Though it's quite predictable, it does have some unexpected twists. For instance, I didn't expect him to be a delinquent nor a prostitute. And also, I thought he'd be mutually in love with Riku's father. I really liked that it wasn't like that, and not for moral reasons, but because it made the story somewhat unique.
There's another thing that I REALLY liked. Nagi himself. And I'm not talking about him being tsundere-ish, but about his devilish side. Because his partner is a virgin, it gave him space to shine, and therefore he's the sexiest uke on the planet. He's sooo naughty, but adorable at the same time! I didn't get as much in his thoughts as I'd like to, but I was rather satisfied with just being able to drool at him! Summing it up, Nagi's the whole reason why this manga is okay!
The art is good, too. At first it wasn't to my taste, but I got used to it and actually started appreciating it. I'm not quite found of the graphic parts, though - and by that I don't mean the sex itself, but them getting naked all the time and things like that, that are kinda disgusting in the way they're drawn.
I especially like that they both have MANLY bodies and don't look like girls, and that even though Nagi's short, his body structure is pretty much the same as Riku, not more feminine or anything like that.
Anyways, just don't expect too much, but it's enough to pass some time.
