As most other reviewers have mentioned, this is really cute. Not at all "overrated" as some others have said. In my opinion anyway. Here's why:
The art is just beautiful and so clean. The main aspect of the art that I loved though was how you can really see the lust and desire in the main characters' eyes when they are looking at, or even just thinking about, the other. And due to the amazing art, all the kissing and sex scenes were deliciously hot. Plus, there is no clear distinction between the two leads in terms of appearance -- by that I mean there is no tiny, gooey-eyed, feminine uke and massively muscled seme. Instead they are of similar height and body type, which I liked, as it made it seem more realistic. After all, anyone who believes gay men only come in two sizes (tall men must be seme and short ones must be uke) have clearly read far too much mainstream "yaoi". So thank goodness for decent, modern BL like this that has a much more realistic grip on homosexuality.
Anyway, the plot itself is great. In all honesty, it's not at all unique, as rivals-become-lovers in a school setting really isn't anything new, but it's the kind of plot I like. If you want something with action, fantasy, or something with a completely unique type of plot, then this clearly isn't it, but as a fluffy yet slightly smutty manga, it really does the job well. Another plus for me, is the dynamic the leads have with each other. After all, I always love bickering couples (all of my favourite pairings are like that), and these two are a perfect example. Also, amazingly, there were no stupid love triangles in this!! One slight misunderstanding, but no real angst. Just a lot of teenage sexual tension. Yum.
The characters really are just so loveable. Not a single one that I dislike. There's the academic genius who is actually an idiot
by offering to teach someone else how to have sex, despite being a virgin himself, haha ^__^
with a slight sadistic streak (I really liked that about him). Then there's the "Prince of tennis" who, despite his cool and calm appearance, is actually super cute and even a little bit masochistic. And even though he does look unbelievably adorable at times, when he gets mad, he gets scary. Then there's the side characters... I can't be bothered to mention them all individually, but they were all entertaining and I didn't find any of them to be annoying. Which for me is quite unusual, as I tend to dislike female characters in manga, but I liked the girls in this too.
Anyway this is such a brilliant manga, that the only flaw (in my opinion) is that it isn't longer!
EDIT: After re-reading this again recently, I still think this deserves a 10/10. I don't think I have overrated it in the least. If you want something with heavy angst, stupid love-triangles, and characters being raped or killed-off, then this certainly isn't what you're looking for. If, like me, you are looking for something cute that isn't totally nauseating, then this is perfect for just that.
I noticed another reviewer who said that if you're a heavy yaoi reader then to avoid this... well, if you're definition of "yaoi" is the sort with horrific art where the characters are completely disproportionate and the plot either follows the "seme must rape uke, so uke will fall in love, even though seme is complete jerk" trope or "one guy confesses, they have sex, then other guy falls in love too", then yes, definitely avoid this. Because this is far too good to even be considered that sort of "yaoi". If, however, you mean "BL", then I completely disagree. I'm also an avid reader of BL manga, having read literally hundreds of BL stories, and even then I still think this is great. It may not be as hot and heavy as others, and normally I do think the smuttier the better, but in this case the abundance of sexual tension is more than enough. /rant over.
