Description

The Great Tokyo Earthquake. Ten years ago, it destroyed lives as it tore buildings asunder. Among those who lived through the disaster was Ganta Igarashi, now a middle school student finally getting a footing in his own life... that is, until the day the 'Red Man' appears at his school and turns his world upside down again. Ganta's entire class is brutally murdered, and although innocent of the crime, Ganta is sentenced to death and sent to the bizarre prison known as 'Deadman Wonderland.' There, a brutal game of survival begins, where Ganta must discover the truth behind his classmates' murder.
Can Ganta break out of Deadman Wonderland... or will it break him first?

All of the ones that say "boringggggg"
I mean, look at the dates! THEY'RE FROM A YEAR AGO! (ok, one from this year >:l)!!
C: The manga has SERIOUSLY picked up since then, and GAHH in the latest chapters, I was so surprised! This manga is amazing, and it has it's own unique plot line.
I am a girl, and I have this thing agaisnt shounen. I don't know why, but mostly, they involve stupid idiotic, insensitve yet attractive people as the leads. I don't like reading stuff like that.

BUT THIS, Ganta is amazing. His feelings are so realistic, and his personality's REAL. I always hated how shounen had such stupid main leads for no reason. Ganta may not be the brightest person, but atleast you understand why, because it's his nature to be a good guy (or so I think). AKA, I think he's so nice that he's a bit stupid. But not OVERLY STUPID.

I'm bad at explaining. XD
ANyway, I wanted to stay THIS and Ao no futsumashi are what dragged me into the Shounen realm, and I'm so glad they did!!!
I love this manga, and it's so unique and it keeps giving me new ideas, feelings, and excitment with each chapter I read.

It is a must read.

Also, the plot line is unpredictable. I was like
" OH PSH, that's gonna happen, and this is that person =.=!! BLEH"
but then I read on...

That experience keeps happening to me over and over again xD
And I'm so glad it does. I love it when I read something that is beyond my judgement! SO EXCITING )

I like this one. dark and awesome, the atmosphere makes me shiver in anticipation. The characters make me smile. Everything works pretty well, the vengeance, the romance, the powers. There is blood and gore, cowards should not read but... no, read it. Even with the mayhem, it is just amazing. I have no other words to describe it and I will choose not to write a whole essay about it.

There is still much more to find out, some of which will spoil the story. Twisted story. I like

Honestly, when I first saw this manga, I had doubts about how good it was. But after reading it, I came to love this manga. The beginning has a slow start, but after that it get very good. There's betrayal, lies, and enticing plot twists. I give this a solid 9.5/10

I have to say, I am currently in love with this manga. It's my favorite shounen as of right now. Deadman Wonderland is an awesome manga! It has a great plot, set of characters, and the artwork is GORGEOUS! 😀 You can see all the details and effort put into each character, background, and scene (especially the fight scenes). This manga is definitely not for the faint of heart. The themes in the manga are very mature and cruel, having to do with the inhumane side of mankind. The way all the characters and Ganta are treated is absolutely terrible and hell probably can't emphasize the extreme cruelty. Also there is A LOT, I repeat, A LOT of blood and gore. If you aren't used to seeing this kind of stuff, I'd recommend you not read this unless you seriously think you can handle it. At first I was thinking this was going to be another extremely long, mainstream series but I was wrong and I'm glad I was. There is a perfect amount of time for character and plot development without the story dragging on and on. There are plot twists and many secrets that leave you wanting more. I've realized that this manga is actually really psychological, and I love that, so no wonder I've fallen so hard for this manga! Definitly read this if you want an unpredictable, psychological, not slow paced, action packed thriller! One of the best new mangas I think 🙂

This manga is good .. i dont understand how can som1 not like it.. its unique, great characters,story and man i love how i cant guess what will happen next.. i kinda new she was the monster though but nothing else was predictable.. read it.

I loved it. I read it straight from the first chapter to chapter 42. I can't wait for the ending! This is a very good read. I have tried reading gory mangas before (e.g., Gantz and Psyren). None really worked for me. Too bloody and I guess too much for me. This one, though, I liked. Looking forward to the anime!

I love this manga. It's in some ways very cliché in the sense that the main character is your typical weak character that becomes strong whenever his friends are threatened or at just the right time. The type of untapped potential that becomes active "when it really matters", but is otherwise very timid but caring.

Either way, I can definitely recommend this manga. It's completely random and comes with a rather simple dialogue, but with interesting story elements and characters. Although some of their behavior is -completely- out of whack... that's part of what makes it interesting 🙂

Also it's well drawn with cool and detailed action scenes.

Hmmm... it's got potential to become a rather interesting series if it plays its' cards right. Will it be able to breath life into a bunch of cliches or will it turn into yet another dragged-out serialisation? So far, the direction of this series seems to swing from 1 direction to another.

What I really liked: the protagonist and some of the characters, the craziness of this manga(on the level of certain other mangaka), the art(character designs, the mecha designs and even part of the prison levels were kinda cool), that it's grim and gritty yet dosed with a pinch of light-heartedness so things are fairly balanced, the secrets everyone seems to hold and how almost everyone really struggles to form some sort of power relation with one another, the twists and mysteries, etc.

What I really disliked: the amount of cast members(important and lesser members, those who've appeared and those who haven't) which will likely mean limited characterisation or even recycled characters and dragged-out tournament fights unless the manga creators can get it right(tough if you're trying to go for a mostly fighting manga unless you veer from that direction or can handle it). And too much random stuff in every odd chapter instead of building on the plot, character and action layers bit by bit and that the rapid pacing in the earlier chapters is starting to slow a darn lot.

So, I'll probably pick up this series again in a while's time to see if it crash-landed or headed for a round of smooth sailing. And it's worth checking out just for the fun of it.

Damn DW switches between genres more than it's characters switch between their multiple personalites. DW seems a bit to gruesome to be classified as shounen.

But yeah when it first arrived on onemanga I read it and loved it. Trust me Ganta is a far cry from Renton; he gets put into a horrible situation yet he doesn't just sit in a corner and cry, he gets up and does something. I don't wanna make my comment super long so I'll just give a short list of awesome points.

The art is some of the best around
All the characters are interesting
Likeable protagonist
And oh yeah, it doesn't hurt that they threw in a few hot chicks here and there
Interesting but still mysterious plot made stronger by the great setting

This manga shows true potential, and is quite interesting. I can't wait to see if it will turn for the better, or turn for the worse. Because there is only a chapter or two out so far, I give it an 8, for good violence, and good potential.

Wow, so far its really great. Can't wait until more. Seriously, I can't wait.
Raised it to a 8.8 rating.

EDIT: Dude, the pointless violence IS why I like it!
