Description

Two months after coming to Tokyo, Iku is enjoying otaku life, but something mysterious is happening to him: He's started to see ghosts!

One particular ghost - who's always standing on top of the pedestrian bridge at night - catches his interest, but he studiously ignores it... Until one day the guy turns up at his apartment holding a doujin Iku had dropped. He says his name is Seo Mimori, and seeing as he's a lost soul with nowhere to go, Iku doesn't really resist when he "moves in."

But then a shocking secret about Mimori's death is revealed...

"I got sent off by a ghost with a cucumber." 😂 I wanted to like this more but maybe because of my mood? I didn't feel strongly for this story or the characters. Plus the ending was very bittersweet which was a downer on my mood.

Mimori woke up from his coma but didn't remember the time he spent with Iku as a ghost, which left Iku heartbroken.

The story is quite fast-paced, a bit too quick sometimes, and yet, at the same time, felt like a slow read. In a good way, though? I'm not sure how to explain.

It's overall a nice concept with loveable characters. Although the romance was almost insta-love, which isn't my favorite trope, I did feel the chemistry between them.

It has a tender writing style, with some nice quotes that make the death theme more poetic rather than dark. I loved that vibe while reading.

It did lack a bit of depth, which I, on one hand, find unfortunate, cause instead of having a side-story with Iku's mom, that time could've been used to give more moments between Iku and Mimori. On the other hand, it makes it quite realistic, showing that we all have side-stories in our lives, and there's never enough time to spend 100% time on one plot. Even if we wanted.

Maybe it was never intended to be a deep love. This manga's love story certainly isn't anything new, but the "fleeting moment" vibe did touch me in a soft way.

I'm surprised I didn't like this more, based on its positive reviews. But to me it felt like the romance was happening somewhere off screen. The main character is uninteresting and hard to relate to, and the twist is predictable. I ended up dropping it in the middle of the final chapter because I couldn't be bothered.

Good art and storyline, although the sequel was slightly unpar to this. It became confusing in the sequel. Still, love the idea and art work.

To summarize: good premise, cute art, but poor execution. The story really falls flat. It is confusing and disjointed at points. And the characters are just down right annoying at times. I did like it a bit, and I honestly thought maybe this will grow on me. But no. I am just not down with this. And I really did have high expectation from this.

At first, I didn't expect this manga to be so sad but as the story deepened, it started to get to my emotions. The art is beautiful and, thankfully, there's a sequel cause the ending was very open and ambiguous. I definitely recommend this.
