I only read the few chapters that were scanned (1,3,4,7) and enjoyed them all. I especially liked chapters 3 and 4.
The sense of dissatisfaction in all of them is palpable but every story has some realization of hope — what I found unique about them was that this hope didn’t come in the form to a solution to the problem in the story; it came in acceptance and acknowledgement of those “selfish” thoughts we all have. The ones we repress because how can we be so selfish as to want something for ourselves when others are so happy or when it’s hard for us to confront we might not be as selfless and perfect as we strive to me. I enjoy that every character finds hope, but they also experience consequences…whether those consequences are joyous, reflective, or sad.
Overall, a great collection and I hope to be able to read the other stories that haven’t been scanned.
