Description
From Yen Press:
Souta Takatsuki and his neighbor Rikka Amanome have been like brother and sister since they were kids, but his feelings for her run much deeper. With her birthday coming up, he wants to find the perfect gift, which presents itself in the form of a book from a mysterious shop he happens across. The owner doesn't even charge him, saying he'll return to pay eventually. Souta is wholly unprepared for the insatiable passion the book inspires in Rikka, and it seems the ultimate price of this gift may be hefty indeed.

FMC is too bland that the NTR doesn't even really trigger anything, at least for me. The art is good but the context is so meh that it makes me feel turned off. tl;dr: should have drawn straight hentai instead

There is so much ntr near the last third/ quarter, like wtf is this shit

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the last chapter shows that this shit show was all in 'le head' of the mc. Outside he meets his fuck buddies and they do not know why but they feel attracted to him. This manga was shit, absolute. NTR ruined the story, then this ending tried to scrap up what respectable plot it had left. Dont waste ur time with this

Unexplored Story, dumbed down characters, pointless NTR, cheap cope ending, waste of time.

In retrospect this is waste of time. Nothing great really except the art. From chapter 1 to chapter 37 its your typical Harem story despite making huge mistakes of how NOT to do it (Will talk about it later). From 37 to 49 (the very last chapter of this series) it feels like the genre got changed, story didnt made even less sense and it feels/reads as it was axed or rushed. So in short, 3/4 of the story is fine if you like harem, the rest is trash which got axed at the end.

Story: While it got potential it was wasted by the authors poor writing skills about his characters or how the whole curse worked. Not only we saw a sudden shift in the genre, but also a unfixable character change of the FMC Rikka. What was a just horny FMC towards MC, turned into a nymphomaniac cum-dump slut in your classic NTR doujinshi where she only thinks about Dicks, since this is what she prefers now.
While the author somehow tried to backpaddle, he realised he made a Oopsie with her arc, but also his whole manga. He tried to excuse her action with only "there was no penetration so she is still pure" but for some reason he ignored Rikkas love to fuck strangers just because.

The is a funny scene where even a main love inteterest points out why Rikka would do such even she is supposed the be THE main girl, ranking above all the others, where the other girls didnt even thouhgt about the idee to cheat on the MC. It was kinda a way of the author to say he made a mistake but didnt know how to fix it.
As time goes on, he realised people left for good and he needs to wrap things up. Which means he needs to rush things and end where they are.
And with that got our time-reset ending where nothing really made sense. The very last chapter ends with MC simping for the FMC slut, chatching her once again where she wanted to go out for another gangbang part, got persuaded to have sex with MC and he dies. Time gets reseted, we start from Chapter one while its hinted that the other love interests somehow have deep feelings for MC...

The problems:
The story made a simple mistake to make MC and Rikka a couple, which is kinda hard to make in a Harem story where you have multiple woman. While mostly it can be done nicely, here I will agree that MC was cheating on her because thats how bad the story is written. It started as your typical cliche of MC to save the other girls but also starting to have his own romantic feelings for them, which is nothing new for a Harem story.

What made it bad is that the FMC not only got ignored for he majority of the time, but since her character got changed, it made her unacceptable for the majority. While her action make sense in a seinen or drama story, here in a Harem manga it was out of place.

The other problem is the NTR, which was the main reason the manga got axed.
While I would say NTR dosent automaticly will tank your series, its about how you execute it.
There was a manga im forgot the name but its about how MC got NTRd by his wife and he moves on on his harem path with the FMC being the sister of MC now Ex-wife. The scene of MC being cucked is so short and there wasnt even much shown, pointing out that its only for the plot and not fetish.
"Kanojo ga Senpai ni NTR-reta node, Senpai no Kanojo wo NTR-masu " is another good example how you even have sex scenes with the girlfriend cheating on MC but we dont feel bad about it since she is not even the FMC but she is not likeable. Also here its for the plot and not for the fetish.

Well, in Lust Geass we have the opposite. Not only reads both of the NTR chapters as your typical NTR doujinshi, which is only for the fetish, there is no follow up or a slightest amount of redemption from the story.
While it could have been fixed with not much effort, it shows how bad the author is in writting his stories. This or he found a new fetish which dont mix well with how the manga started years ago.

Conclusion: I liked the manga before the NTR happend, but since it happend anyway I thought it would at least have the balls to end on a "mature" type of path. I dont mind to have a shit story having a shit ending hence I expected not much of it. But the time reset was a cheap cope out to find a common ground with his fan base it seems. What he also didnt get is that Rikka continues to be a nymphomaniac slut, even in this time line tho we wont see it... because thats her true character, which the author never fixed in the first place since this was established as her true herself, her true desire etc.

Personally I would have prefered that MC would have dumbed the FMC from the first chapter she cheated on MC and focused on the other girls. And after some years the meet randomly and become friend but without romantic feelings since MC realised he never truly really loved FMC but was horny, otherwise he wouldnt have cheated on her. And FMC is also happy since she is a nymphomaniac slut, she is also married with a new guy but also cheats on him since this is her true self.
But all we got was a simping MC for the hoe FMC and the story really forces her on the MC.

In the end, if you are a Harem fan dont read it, at least not from the MC side.

mostly hyped for the art and the ecchi, the story is just a pretext.

So I followed this manga since the first volume came out and now that it is over I'm writing a more detailed review. While my enthusiasm has withered a little my opinion mostly hasn't changed.
The main reason I like Lust Geass is because of the art, so soft-looking with even detailed backgrounds and nailed character expressions. Maybe the main bad thing I could say about it is that the faces look very similar from one character to another. Otherwise I awlays wanted this artist to make a manga that's more erotic than his previous ones cause Isuca for example didn't have enough of it and was stuffed with an otherwise mediocre story.

As for the story, well it's basically a pretext for erotic stuff to happen.
One regret is maybe that I would have liked some more erotic scenes with the main girl, Rikka.

Otherwise the story wasn't really surprising, it had mostly predictable outcomes for the first three volumes, what you would expect from a harem manga, MC dukes it out with each of the three girls you see on one of the very first pages of volume 1 ; basically one per volume.

After that is where things take a new direction with a new girl and secondary characters appearing, compromises being made, and one person being left alone in the mix. What followed after though was just the logic consequence:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Rikka is tricked by a demon and unconsciously goes to other people to quench her sexual desires, she even sees Souta cheating on her and Souta also eventually sees her cheating on him.

So yeah I see some other reviews complaining about NTR from this point on but this was honestly predictable and merely the result of a neglect from Souta and it was just fair game when the main character was himself already cheating on her for a long time but no one complained about that strangely enough, double standards pretty much?

And then you have a final arc to resolve this situation with a new character bringing in a miracle solution, although not a perfect one so there is hesitation and you get many erotic scenes along the way as a farewell plus some suspens as I had no idea how this manga would end until the very last chapter, only for it to end in the most convenient way but I still feel like it was rushed. Not sure the hate recently received contributed to it or this was the long awaited ending point to a story that could only go so far but hey, 7 volumes is no small amount for a manga so that was relatively succesful.

On a separate note, I'm baffled they marketed this manga as a romcom and understand even less how could readers think it is one. You have a couple who get cursed and can die if they have sex. And then of course you have the general uneasy feeling floating around the many scenes between the MC and Rikka with clear avoidance and guilt from the MC despite Rikka showing desire to spend more time, there's nothing comedic about that, it's all tragic.

Well anyway, a good story wasn't what I read this manga for so I'm satisfied with my read overall. I hope to see more erotic mangas from Takahashi Osamu in the future.

Hot take, MC is a POS

When not read as a self-insert story, stripped of any and all romance tags, it's possible to see that the MC 100% deserves
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the NTR scenes that happen to him in volume 6.
Better to read this deliberately as a trainwreck than a rom-com 'cause there's neither romance nor comedy in this despite any indication. Erotic, but stupid. Schadenfreude aside, the sexy art is the only redeeming factor in this manga.

MC acts like a nice guy, but is a
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
womanizing POS for giving in and choosing to cheat on his girlfriend given the easy excuse the demon gave him. All the girls are sexy, but dude conveniently forgot he was in a relationship. He was also supposed to find a way to rid themselves of the curse or at least make a firm decision on a girl but instead continuously four-timed his GF with every girl who touched him for 4 straight volumes.

He doesn't deserve to complain or wallow in self-pity when his
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
previously loyal GF is manipulated by a demon into cheating on him in vol.6 and this is after she was already devastated to see him in an orgy with 3 other girls that included her best friend. Yeah, she got NTR'd before he did. It's not just NTR, it's MUTUAL NTR.

Also, non-penetrative sex is still cheating,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
which is true for both him and her, as up to c.46 no-one except the transfer student's friend has lost their virginity to anyone with the contrived focus on non-penetrative sexual acts. Apparently, the author tried to explain that the GF only did non-penetrative intercrural sex with random men while under demonic influence,
but it's still cheating so that evens out for this dumpster fire of a story.

Just waiting to see if the POS MC actually makes a choice on someone, bad ending be damned. Bring it on, it's more fun that way. Just don't end up with the ultimate cop-out ending.

Edit:
Ultimate cop-out ending confirmed. Can't even have a fun bad ending, huh.
I gave this a 2.0 instead of a 1.0 because the shitty MC deserved the NTR and a no romance ending

NTR manga in disguise

Its a NTR manga in disguise, there is no way arround it.
Perhaps it was planned from the beginning, perhaps this was only shoved in for pushing ranks/sales. Perhaps it was suggested to the author to mix "RomCom" with NTR, even if it was a dumb idea and thoght that people wouldnt react that badly if he somehow tries to find a way, but in the end this "Harem" and originally marked as "RomCom" contains NTR with the Main Heroine -> Rikka.

Author tried back then to justify it by saying since there was no real penetration (Sumata Sex and its shown very graphicly), she still is "safe" and a virgin, making her cheating for some reason acceptable.

If you want to read a "RomCom" or a Harem manga -> Dont read it because this isnt one.
If you want to read a NTR manga -> Dont read it because it reads like a typical doujinshi but you have to wait for it for 36 chaps of dumb plot.

Right now only 44 Ch. are translated out of 47 (its still ongoing when I wrote this). But its clear to me this manga will end soon. In like 5 chaps or so.

Very disingenuous

This series has a lot of problems. I rarely read mangas that make me mad, depressed or disappointed.
This is because anime (and manga and LN) tend to rarely scam their audience, even when they troll them, it tends to be very honest.

Lust geas isn't an honest series at all. It sold itself as a romcom, in volume one marketting in japan u can see it was marketed as a romcom, and it seems it was also marketted as that in kadokawa's digital store (ironically, it was changed afterwards, after a japanese twitter user threatened kadokawa).

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This series premise is a vehicle for sex scenes: basically a demon decides to have a contract with the MC and his childhood friend, in exchange they are overwhelmed by lust, but one of the rules of the contract is they cant have sexual intercourse. this devolves in the mc having sex through 5 volumes long, and sex with several girls. everything is presented in a very romcom way: every girl falls in love with the mc, and then have sex with him.

theres some hints here and there that it would devolve into NTR, but since the series has harem scenes through 5 volumes, it was unlikely. but most of us were wrong.

I will give an example of why this series is disingenuous: Lets suppose the author's planned it to be NTR from the beginning: u could have that plot twist in early volumes, like Gakkou Gurashi, or the equivalent of episodes 4-5 in madoka.

even then Madoka has a tone completely different from your usual mahou shoujo series. It was obvious it was a somber, darker series.

this series had none, i really dont know if it's because of the author incompetence, or because the editor advised the author to do this in order to sell a lot through 5 volumes and then ditch their costumers.

Disingenuous is a very mild word, i think.

this sh*i totally has NTR, I regretted ever reading this sh*t.
this author absolutely on my black list.
maybe if he ever got NTR'd he'll understand how toxic NTR is.

edit:
now 10 months after the author start to put the NTR bullshit, finally, this manga got axed.
I hope the author will also get NTR'd in real life, like what he wrote in this manga
