Actually Funny and Cute! Almost overlooked this one

Within the first couple chapters, both the female and male leads come off as annoying and cliche, which points the story into a misleadingly toxic and tropey relationship. However, if you give it a few more chapters you realize the story does not take itself that seriously and both the characters are actually somewhat aware of their flaws, if not at least written in an exaggerated way to make the story more comedic. The jokes written throughout were genuinely funny to me and made the overall read a good time, even though there were some obvious drawn-out misunderstandings. Even the way the conflict is resolved in the end is hilarious and well-paced. I say give it a chance if you want cute comedic shoujo vibes.

I dropped this at chapter 17. It was super obvious what the ending was going to be and it was getting tedious seeing it drawn out chapter after chapter. Overall its not a bad manga, cute art and an ok story though honestly the male leads motivation for revenge seemed waaaaay too small of an issue to hold a grudge for over 10 years and plot revenge over. But this story could have been finished up a lot quicker. The ending was needlessly drawn out. Maybe to try to get us to see more chemistry between the two leads but if so it fell short on that as well for me. I never really felt the sparks. This manga was pretty much a dud for me but it could have been worse, it had cute art and at least a fun premise to start out with.

Shoujo with an interesting plot twist & cliches executed nicely

This is standard fare shoujo with the cliches all around, but that shouldn’t be something that should turn off potential readers with a good read... sometimes all it takes is a good execution and pacing by the author, and this one does it very cleanly and nicely. There is a very interesting and smart cliche plot twist addition that makes this popular guy/normal girl pairing actually move forward in a believable manner and carries the whole story forward all the way to the end,... it’s nothing new but it’s the way it’s done makes the whole read so believable and quite refreshing to read. You also get a sense that the characters have a mind of their own despite still within the realm of cookie cutter stereotypes, since the author infused a bit of quirkiness into them, and their banter and interaction makes it quite funny and enjoyable. Their personality does dissipate over the chapters when the drama starts rolling out but the execution of the drama is well done nonetheless so it’s not too bad. I’ve yet to read the last 3 chapters but I think it’s good enough to be rated.

As a quick summary, nothing life changing, but I’d recommend this to anyone who would like to enjoy a good, medium length shoujo without the overexcessive, unbelievable drama that plagues most shoujo genres. No regrets reading here, and I had a fun time with this manga.

Honestly I'm surprised this is rated so low! Its quite funny- the interactions between the two main characters is hilarious and the facial expressions are great. It's not too cliche (yet) and the male character is hilariously petty.

What an interesting plot!

For a shoujo, this story is really interesting. I've read the available raws (currently at chapter 4) and I can already see this becoming quite amusing. Here's a spoiler:

Basically, the popular male lead Kujou is like that of any handsome, rich boy in high school shoujo manga, but our heroine Sara is an idealistic who believes in true love - the love that one would self-sacrifice for - and not the frivolous love of her classmates. Through circumstances, she is humiliated by Kujou who mocks her view of idealized love, and she vows to make him love her as revenge. In the process of trying to get to know him, she falls for him a bit, and it's revealed that Kujou is so anti-love because of a past trauma related to Sara (shocker).

The past was that Sara loved this one dramatic love movie set in England, and as a child she pretended to be the main heroine Diana, and just happened to meet young Kujou during summer vacation. Kujou was so earnest and fell in with "Diana"'s whole pure love (you would love me so much you would die for me, etc.) and when Diana got a little sick, she enacted the final death scene of the movie, and Kujou thought she was dying so frantically asked to borrow a million yen (O_O) from his mother to buy Diana a wedding ring and promised to love her forever...it turns out she got better, moved back home, left the ring and basically forgot about Kujou. The 9-year-old Kujou was much traumatized, and now discovering that "Diana" is really this girl, he vows to make her love him so much that she can't live without him and then to dump her.

But we know how shoujo mangas usually end. 😀 This plot seems quite interesting, so I'll continue reading it.
