Setia is prisoner of Azurite, the tyrant king. She has a fiancé waiting for her but the King seems to have taken a fancy in toying with her! But under his ruthless facade there appears to be…
Oneshot (Complete)
Typical storyline. If you like this type of historical, it's not bad. I have one problem with this story, though. The girl fell in love too fast to be realistic for me, especially with the guy doing some outrageous things to her that I would like to punch him for. Doesn't match his character at the end of the story.
the art is really great and i'll give the manga that. also this story, while not totally original, had a lot of potential and the character development was decent, though not enough development to break out of the typical archetypes.
i really dislike that the king started out so rapey and gross and within the span of a oneshot he turned the opinion of the girl around. ugh. stuff like that needs more than a couple chapters to be believable and palatable. i loved the art and humor, but i just couldnt get over that fact. more finesse and nuanced character development!
those 2 words describe how i feel abt it...
I mean seriously! he lost his eyesight?! That wuz such unnecessary depression..
also, he's a king, does he not have guards or nething???? Although the setting isn't realistic in the least, its a cute manga...
its a oneshot so I'd suggest reading it 🙂
Same as Pari said, if you think about it the king is just another heartless evil jerk, but the mangaka really pulled off all the emotions of the female lead and the story has a heart-wrenching feel. Could have been a bit better at times, but overall very good.
I really wish I could hate this story, because the king is evil and has no regards for other people's emotions, but for some reason the mangaka really managed to make me feel like the female lead did. It's crazy.
As the reviewer before said, the art is gorgeous and I actually read it a second time just to admire some panels. The story's length is just perfect, not too short and not too long either, once it's over you definitely don't feel like you wasted your time reading it. Even though it's just a short story, the characters are pretty well made and the narration is steady paced.
If you want to read just another clichéd shoujo oneshot you should skip this one, but if you are looking for a beautiful, calm, sweet yet at times bitter story you can safely try this one.
I love Mizuho Kusanagi's art. It's always absolutely gorgeous, and this oneshot is no exception. Setia, the protagonist, is strong and beautiful, and this oneshot was incredibly moving. It's sad but beautiful, and the mangaka has a really good way of inserting comedic relief. King Azurite is horrible and cruel, but at the same time, you pity him, and empathize with Setia and understand her actions. This is an amazing piece of art- so short, but so well-developed and beautiful. The ending isn't abrupt, but it makes you wonder what will happen next, and hope for them to be able to get through everything in the future together. Please read it, I recommend it completely!
