LOL I actually quite like what I read, unexpectedly. About the story, the 'misunderstanding' part could have been made better for my liking, but overall the humour did get to me and won me over in the end. That really is the most striking redeeming quality this manga has. The story is definitely not fluffy and light-hearted with its background and all, so I consider its capability at being cleverly humorous a success. The art is not my usual favourite but I could learn to work with it after a while. However, the cover drawing is total a turn off in my opinion. One of the reasons I hesitated to read this in the first place was because of that, unfortunately. I'm glad the mangaka has improved her colouring skills with time, as shown in her later works.

The pacing of the story is good, unlike the usual yaoi stories which takes sex as the main point of the whole story -this one focuses more on the character's relationship and how they'd cope up with the major misunderstanding that happened between them. It wasn't predictable and it was refreshing for me, not a typical misunderstanding and it really had a serious to mild atmosphere, nothing too dramatic to make you cry though. And also, there isn't any drawn bed scenes between the seme and uke so if you want a good shag, you shan't smile)

I love this story. It appeals to me on all levels - the art, the story, the redemption of two deeply wounded people who can't really move on until they confront their past. One of my all-time favorites.

i was very pleased with this work. (though, i really wasn't with Suzu no Ne ga Kikoeru ). Here, the artwork is so fine, the characters are very pretty. If your thing is long-haired men you’ll be very pleased. Really, it’s weird that the artwork is even better than the one in her latest works (k no kouzu for instance), here there are no problem as body proportions. In this manga, their legs weren’t too short and had a proper length and their heads weren’t out of proportion with the rest of their body (big foreheads!).
Also the plot was very GOOD, nice suspense, I was swept away by the story and really wanted to know what had traumatised the guy. This isn’t a light romance but this is all for the best.

Main themes: facing your misdeeds and not running away, accepting the blame, friendship, faithfulness, trust, betrayal, and the strong taking advantages of the weak, atonement, and the necessity to accept ones past and to keep moving forward.

I also appreciated a lot the fact that the story was set in the edo period (the most interesting and most flourishing period in Japanese history in my opinion) Besides, I love historical mangas.

For those who liked it and who are looking for a similar story you should read Mumyoutou by Duo brand ! this is a must read in my opinion.

I give it a 9 for the artwork and a 8 for the story.

I really liked this story, but it ended too soon. I want more. It was just getting funny, and then that was it. The story is good. The ending is fine, but more could have been done.

Even i can admit that it did get a bit too lovey dovey towards the end but i thought it was quite funny actually and i liked the beginning how it shows that communication is key to working relationships.
