Perhaps theres a missing Chapter 0 or perhaps it follows directly on from the anime, but going into it "blind" I had no idea what was going on as it starts in the middle of the action and clearly expects yo to be familiar with the characters and their backstory. Which ruined it for me.

A lot of people bash Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and I can understand really. 4kids seriously ripped, stabbed and murdered the anime violently with their dub. Of course, it's not as good as the original, hardly anything ever lives up to the original.

The manga is actually much better than the anime. The artwork is something else. Amazing piece of stuff, and it's getting to down to some serious dark duels. I really like it. It's not touched by any corny 4kids dub shit, it's the real japanese deal. So if you like your duels, go read it. I recommend you give it a shot if you like duels.

It's not really for 7-10 year olds, they wouldn't understand half the stuff that goes on 🤣

Give it a shot of you like yugioh. Don't be put off because everybody says GX is crap. It's up to you to decide.

no. this isn't working. this series just DOESN'T WORK. it's KILLING the beauty, fame, and story of the original. i LOVE the original story, and this just totally RUINS the whole yugioh world.

It's pretty bad, that's for sure. This series - being a spinoff rather than a continuation of the original - definitely isn't good, and I agree with whoever said it's for 7 year olds. Unfortunately, it is. The characters are boring and childish, and the plots are similar; the premise is entirely based on card games and their role in the modern day. It reads a bit like a fanfic, actually.

The only reason I'm giving this a 5 is because it is, at least, mildly entertaining, and I can actually read its chapters in Viz's Shonen Jump. Simply put, it could be far worse. I wouldn't advise picking this up unless you're really bored, but it isn't quite as generic as other series in the shounen genre.
