Don't get me wrong, this doujin follows many known tropes, but I can say that before Chitose I've never seen another NTR story with this kind of premise.
Normally with NTR you have your standard plots. Blackmail, mind control, rape and the girl falling for pleasure.
Chitose takes much more time setting up the main two characters Hori and Chitose, with much of the 50 page first chapter dedicated to their backstory. Even managing to slightly flesh out the two side characters Takayuki and Mika. Two siblings part of the same art club as the main duo, that set off the sex events of the story.
Like many other Seto Yuuki stories, the women are beautiful, and often act as just that, beautiful girls who have sex. With not a lot of characterization. In this case Mika does receive a lot of personality but the main heroine Chitose is often left behind. But this review is before the final chapter, and Yuuki has had heroines who stay silent or mysterious until the climax of their respective stories. The level C saga is an example, as we didn't get inside Aoyagi's mindset until the last chapter Level D. So we will have to see how the story concludes.
All is complimented with Seto Yuuki's fantastic style, arguably better than ever but still his own. Specially if you compare it to his early works. His unique style, dedication to detail, backgrounds and specially in clothing and lingerie is fantastic; particularly with the two girls of the story.
Be warned, this is a NTR story, and one that can hurt those who don't know what they're getting into. If you care about semantics, then it technically doesn't count as netorare, but there is a reason it falls under that category. The author took his time with events and expressions to showcase the downfall of the main character, his pain and mindset throughout the events that unfolded. All while still avoiding antagonizing Takayuki, his friend who ends up entangling himself in the story. Making sure it's clear that Hour's problems are solely caused by his indecision and fear.
The story is fantastic and can't wait till we get a tankoubon with extras and epilogue once the final chapter is published.
If you know what you are getting into, you'll enjoy Chitose. It's slow in the uptake but once it gets going it's fantastic. Be glad you weren't here since the beginning waiting months between chapters.
