I highly recommend this manga. This manga have everything a great story, great characters, great fights, and just enough romance to make everybody happy. Sometimes I always take this manga as a model to compare other ones because this manga have the perfect combination.

I started reading this manga when it first started got translated in English I've never turned back ever since.Now I own every single volume, even the perfect edition. If you looking for martial arts, sword fights, a bit of Japanese history, and comedy this is the manga for you. All three arc were awesome but the last arc was the one that touched me to most. I feel that Watsuki Nobuhiro is on of the most talented and creative mangaka ever and I look up to him to also become a great mangaka. Jinchu, the last arc was definitely the best I've ever read and art work was the one of the best I've ever seen. It kept me so interested wanting to read more and peaked my interest with every page. Rurouni Kenshin is truly a great read.

I liked the series. It has strong characters and a storyline that fits perfectly for a historical/fighting manga. When I finished reading the Kyoto arc, I feared that the only purpose of the rest of the story would be to continue a good selling manga. But the last arc was well done too. And there would be something missing in the series without some insight in Kenshin's past.
The reason why I haven't voted a perfect score is, that the series had no moments that absolutely touched me or forced me to read on. So in my opinion it's a very good manga, that only lacks the super-strong moments which the very best mangas have.

My title says it all. I enjoyed Rurouni Kenshin. It won its popularity fairly. I read to the end. At one point, I felt really horrible for Kenshin.

The only thing that bugs me... a lot of the main guys fight the villains with practice swords or dull blades. Ummm.... It's nice that they didn't want to kill anyone. The good guy's resolution was a noble one, and a great plot point.....but, but.....

....but sword fighting techniques developed for a lot of very good reasons, and for a host of equally good reasons, different techniques developed for fighting with sticks. For a test of this theory: Obtain a plain, round, steel bar approximately two and a half feet in length and between two and three pounds in weight. Applying a moderate amount o pressure, draw the bar quickly and forcefully across the outstretched arm of a willing friend. You may raise a bruise. Good? Okay. Now using the same force and weight, try the same thing with a sharpened katana. (For a different, but equally illuminating comparison, you could also try poking your friend in the stomach with the tip of the blunt bar/sharpened katana.)

I'm just saying. This bugged me the whole time I was reading. Why bother spending an entire manga with the good guys honing their sword fighting techniques to perfection... and then not have them fight with edged weapons?

RK is the best manga ever. It´s totally deep within the storyline and the characters are really suitable. Kenshin´s past was also exiting to read through and I think this manga´s worth of reading it. The OVA was actually good but I liked reading this part better. Even if the OVA is really sad, I almost had to cry ...

One of the best manga series that I've ever read. It combines action with romance and historical content. The secondary characters are not there just for show, and have their own motivation, goals, and hardships to face. All and all, just a very good story.

The only that I have to say against it though, is that the first big arc of the series was more exciting and had more depth than the second and last big arc. Enishi had more connection with Kenshin's path, but Shishio was all around a greater and more terrifying villain. Also, some character development for the minor characters seemed to disappear in the final arc, for the sake of some comic relief though.

However, other than that, this story is incredible, and I can guarantee that if you even remotely like action or romance, you won't regret picking this up.

RK is by far one of the most enjoyable mangas i've read. It's full of passion, drama, intense fights, virtue, courage, and meaning there is no better word to describe it then a classic and is a must read for anyone who enjoys manga. As someone who first watched the anime then read the manga the manga is vastly more detailed and far more enjoyable. If you need something to read the 28 volumes of it will keep you easily entertained for a good time to come, a must read from me.

personally, my immortal favorite series, of all time. the anime is great too, up till the end of the Shishio arc. then i hear it drops somewhat, due to master Watsuki not being done the final arc at the time. it's light and it's funny, and it's dark and deep. what more can you want? read it. now. like, right now.

It was the anime that originally got me hooked on Ruroken, and the ending that made me hate it. Then I discovered the manga. As I was reading it in Japanese before the series was actually complete, it completely pissed me off that the anime decided to end with a filler arc rather than waiting for the manga to finish.

Anyway, Rurouni Kenshin is known for its inclusion of elements from many genres, and also contains one of the sweetest couples in anime/manga to date. The art style of Watsuki is excellent, and character design evolves to an extent throughout the series. Plot and deep characters are what really appealed to me, though the cool martial arts element and comedy didn't hurt. It doesn't matter if you're not a fan of historical manga or if you have no inkling of Japanese history - give this manga a try.

The pure idiocy of the decision to end the Rurouni Kenshin anime with a FILLER arc baffles me. Making the anime shit. If you've seen the anime, come give the manga a chance. At least read the Jinchuu Arc, which starts at volume 19. (Read volume 18 just in case-- it's been a long time since I've finished RK.) They mashed the whole Jinchuu Arc in one measly OVA (or two, I forget) with sub-par animation.

The Jinchuu Arc (roughly translated as Divine Retribution) is the most well rounded and conclusive arc of the series. It's a very gripping and satisfying ending to a great story. Character and relationship development end on a clear and solid note (for the most part). The mystery, turmoil, and pain of Kenshin's past is finally fully revealed AND concluded as the events of the Jinchuu Arc forces him to completely come to terms with his past for the last time.

So, in conclusion, if you've only watched the anime, you've been jipped. Go read the manga.
