Denma's art style may be a bit cartoony, but as of c32, it tells such a compelling dark story, full of hope and betrayal and tons of twists.
The story may be considered 'shounen', but it's told in a mature enough manner that fans of seinen stories should also check it out.

Highly recommended.

EDIT: There's a lot to like here, but I'll retract my rating given that the series' ending was apparently received really badly.
