"Ponko Tsundere na Osananajimi", or "Human Trash Tsundere" is not that great. Judging from the cover and the name alone, I was lead to believe that the titular girl would be sympathetic, but that is not the case, I felt. The story focuses around three characters: the male lead who is too nice for his own good, the female lead who is your typical tsundere but who is also a klutz, and what I can only describe as "the perfect one" you see too often in manga/anime. She's very unassertive and often defects to the tsundere's authority whenever the tsundere is upset.
The tsundere's behavior is most appalling. It's quite irritating and wouldn't entice me to ever be around her. At first, i thought it was adorable, then it began to get annoying, especially seeing her utterly fail at basic tasks like not knowing how to tie shoes or use a cue tip or wearing clothes backwards just because your childhood friend said it was cool in pre-school. She's written to be a straight nuisance breaking windows and injures the male lead.
The translation by the group "ASDFGHJK Scans" (real great name, guys) was rather wooden, grammatically incorrect, had improper punctuation, and was awkward with the characters sometimes repeating what the other had just already said but forming it as a question.
All in all, this was a chore to read. Sometimes it was funny, but there's not much appealing with the characters so its last crutch is its comedy, and even that can be lacking when I'm having to sift through the rough dialogue. The entirety of the manga isn't translated into English. I think that's a good thing this time around since because of my inability to read Japanese I won't have my usual habit of feeling obligated to continue reading even when I'm dissatisfied.
