Only three chapters scanlated but I guess it's okay since it's a collection of oneshots. Cherries Fight(awesome collection) brought me here, it's by the same author so I said, hey, why not give it a shot?
Really, whoever is writing this mangaka's summaries makes her stories sound rife with cliche. I mean, there are the inevitable cliches you have to meet in shoujo manga but still.
(I honestly only gave this a go because of the mangaka, which was a good thing, because the cover and summary made me hesitate reading this, good thing I read it)
The mangaka has a habit of twisting things in an unexpected way, right when you think her characters are going to be shallow, then BAM! Hilarity/Sweetness/Unexpected pleasant surprises abound. And abound, they do.
First story-- is the one summarized up top. Give it a go anyway despite the questionable sounding story-line. (Motokichi and Ai from Cherries Fight are alluded to). The mangaka likes experimenting with story lines and admits incorporating a story line usually used for smut/erotica into something pure. Cheesy, you say? Read her mangas.
I love that her heroes really are heroes. Not jerks. Not wound up a**holes. Not bastards who keep pushing and pushing the heroine(even though it's used as a way for character growth or something). Her heroes are lovable and so are her heroines.
This manga is drama-that-makes-me-want-to-slap-myself FREE! Wheeee!
Second Story-- Better, I'd say, than the first story in this collection. Mostly because of the lol moments. First of all, meganeeeeee type of guy, second, lovable female lead. Yoriko is always finding herself in relationships wherein she keeps getting cheated on by her boyfriends.
She has her eye on the cute clerk at the video store who she's still trying to figure out but her cutesy moves aren't working on him(his facial expression rarely changes which intrigues the heroine, only, he isn't a jerk! gasp! No really. You'd think he'd be some weird tsundere cold guy)
I have to say, this girl has some guts! Ahahaha! Love her already! And the guy is just so freaking adorable.(Hopelessly so while maintaining their hotness)
Third story-- Hawt dark-haired guy who isn't a brooding jerk! (Sorry, I can't help comparing this mangaka's heroes to the usual jerk-type(but still lovable, I guess) male leads. My favorite heroine in this collection(so far) and the story is just lovely. Cliched but done so well, it's lovely and cute and the girl isn't some wimp who backs down over another hurdle.
Is it weird that I've ranted long and hard about so many shoujo manga(in other reviews and sites) and I'm totally squeeeing like a crazy fangirl of one of the sweetest scenes evar??!
My love for this mangaka has been cemented(this being only the second manga of hers that I've read so far) because her works are just lovely and completely heartwarming. Hope to read something that isn't oneshot of hers soon.
