K, honest review time!

So this one is actually pretty enjoyable, IF You stick with the right translations. So hefty recommendation that I highly suggest you all deal with: meraki-scans as long as possible (like maybe 'til 305 or something?) and then unfortunately for a while it's pretty bad. After a bunch of chapters though look for the ones done by PilYoong. I'm not sure if there's a gap, but there are a bunch of trash ones after meraki stops by randos. I got suckered into reading them, and regretted not immediately knowing to look for PilYoong. While he (she? they?) aren't perfect, they're loads better than the trash speed-uploaders who use pure machine translate. They offer translator notes, explanations, and even will briefly help you remember when you last saw this minor character at times.

Your welcome, really. Stick with the good translations and your enjoyment will be miles better.

Anyway, It starts off pretty zombie like, but quickly goes off the rails, where 'Virus power' might as well be magic or qi. The opening arcs are pretty episodic at times, but the story vastly improves later on in terms of cohesion and plot-threads. I also really appreciate the romance, with the MC looking for his past-life's lover, and yet a slightly older teacher throws a wrench in the plans. The MC is devoted though, but as with all serious feelings, issues do abound. It frankly takes a LONG time for the MC to even find his past-life-lover though. The art is at times comical and at times serious, but it never gets to the point of being bad. One of the 'main party members' is a hamster, and he can transform into this bipedal wolverine type thing, and it can get pretty hilarious.

The plot continues to improve, with various threads connecting and the cast not growing super large. There tends to be new faces in every arc, but for the most part they're unimportant, and many will end up dead or alive (presumably) but never mentioned. All in all, the core cast are the only ones that matter.

So yeah, TL;DR. Actually pretty good, though less about zombies and more about post apocalyptic monsters and qi/magic/etc. But DEFINITELY find the right translators.

The hypocrisy of a chinese story, typical and infuriating.

I think it would be better to read at merakiscans then azure manga.
OH yeah, also the pacing and the world building is terrible. I feel that alot of the arcs in the story exist for shock value, and lack the development of details of 'why is everyone killing each other'. It's like everyone in the story is ignorant of the fact that humanity is literally going extinct and instead want to show off their machoism. It is a story where mc is always right, always kind of wins, and kinda becomes an ebola god. There are a lot of kinda funny bootleg references like korean trump. The two details in the story that really bothers me is 30/70 human/zombie ratio and the fact that the author kills off all the character they don't like(kinda). With the 30/70 ratio introduced at the beginning of the story, it should be trivial to exterminate the zombies, atleast in the beginning, considering modern weaponry vs brainless zombie. All zombie stories have this problem, but humanity fails to culled the hoard, as if the normal zombies have plot armor and new character materialize out of thin air in what should be a abandoned area. With the killing off random characters, all the character's are following survival of the fittest despite it being counterproductive to kill their own, humans and zombies. The worst thing in chinese stories is their justice system, and general ethical behavior. I understand the punishing of wrongdoing that got people killed, but in the middle of approaching extinction, execution is a laughably extreme action. In the end, they play the blame game when they all have something better to do, killing zombies. Anyways, the writing does get better over time, from maybe gathering experience.
Edit: They really did seem to make cannon fodder human that's not with the protagonist weaker and dumber than the mc's hamster.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They had to insert a time travelling zombie that creates other upgraded zombie just to increase tension in the beginning. The mc sacrifices himself multiple times to cool, but he gets to keep the power up while retconing his sacrifice with his plot armor. Though the antagonist never survive long, every human that befriends the mc and get development gets their own plot armor. It's unreasonable for drugs, gambling, and prostitution rebuilt in the apocalypse where the best way to survive is to hide under a rock in the middle of nowhere. Speaking of survival, humans became so rare that the zombies are literally stockpiling humans. Because humans are more useful than the idiotic normal zombies.
Despite being a chinese story, it has the best romance I've seen from the chinese because there's an actually confession. From the fanservice coming from multiple covers, I deduce that the authors don't take the story seriously. It's better to treat it like a wuxia story instead of a zombie one.

Up to Chapter 300

This is one of the better manhua. Is it smart? No. Is it fun? Yeah I would say so. Worldbuilding marries cultivation tropes x apocalypse tropes in an accessible way. The side characters are VERY well developed for the genre, and unlike many manhua there are no major pacing issues to complain of. Also I like the wonky art. It adds to the kitsch factor. Just turn your brain off and goooo.

Gets crappier with each chapter

In the beginning the story was pretty decent. Survivors doing their best to survive, there was actual struggle.

Now the story turned into a generic cookie cutter story of an overpowered MC, like you see in almost every single manhua with superpowers. Not to mention, the characters are also boring and generic especially the MC (silent strong type).

The story is nothing but boring action scenes, no sense of ambience, and the characters gradually became dull and boring.

Absolute shit with nothing new. Basically another cultivation trash with a couple of ideas copied from resident evil. Don't waste your time with this.

It started as a zombie apocalypse very similar to high school of the dead. I was really enjoying it. How ever, about 80 chapters in, it starts with the boring 20 chapter fights. Now the comic is more of a boring martial arts fighting comic and is nowhere as interesting as it was.

Somewhat Decent -> Bad
by PZcolo
June 17th, 2019, 11:04pm

A somewhat decent mix of zombie apocalypse and cultivation. The good part is that it's action packed and has a fast even pace, for those looking to read something where there is no need to think, not a deep phrase and can swallow pages without having to concentrate in what they are reading this might be ok. The bad is that it's quite dumb and childish, and that the author tries to hard to make the MC look cool. Also, the drawings are quite bad to be honest, lots of weird positions in the middle of a fight that neither make sense or have a purpose.

Dope stuff, but the translation is pretty bad after chapter 12 or so. I'm going to keep reading it for the amazing plot. But I really hope the translation quality improves.

This is a fast Manhua about Guy who is surviving a Zombie apocalypse. It's exciting and so far so good.

The English isn't good and some sentences do not make much sense, but overall it's an acceptable job. and I am thankful for it.
