So Far.....F*K Chapter 3! 13, 14 & the two parter finale! All three involve the statutory rapist.

I see sexual assault mentioned and statutory rape but not the rape that happens in Chapter 3!? FL's friend is raped by her boyfriend as both ML & FL watch. Is it treated as such? NOPE, OF COURSE NOT! That would require the author to have a brain and common sense! Up to this point I had to let some things slide like the irritating, gross, demeaning panty shots and ML's treatment of his girlfriend when he pulled her clothes up to see her boobs (he was appropriately punished and respects her wishes). NOW THIS SHIT?!! F NO! That was horrifying and it pisses me off how rape/sexual assault is treated like it's sex and normal. That bastard acted like he had zero self control, like a mindless beast and didn't give a rats ass on how she felt or if he was even hurting her. Not to mention the fact that asshole didn't even use a condom! Ugh, I need to go calm down, I'm pissed off. F*K Rape Culture!!

Edit: Finished it. The main couple are great after that rough start but he definitely respects her wishes and he genuinely loves her. It was sweet when they were finally together and I like how there relationship is still a work in progress because of future hurdles like college and "other" things. It's realistic that way. I wish this story ONLY focused on them. The 2nd couple (baseball) are okay but problematic. They do get better (boyfriend finally learns self control) by the end though which was nice to see. The 3rd "two individuals" can go and stop existing. They are the worst parts of the story and should have never been a thing. It's toxic and disgusting! They are part of the main reason the score is so low. F*K statutory rapists and the romanticising of them. It was gross, manipulative, predatory behavior and should have never happened.

I originally said that the Author didn't think things through nor had common sense when certain choices were made about certain upsetting scenes but it turns out it's far worse than that. They are most certainly capable of these things but instead CHOSE to conceptualize, write, draw and ink these scenes ON PURPOSE! I say this because the main couple are treated far more respectfully. ML always makes sure that she's comfortable and asks her what she does and doesn't like. He is patient, careful and doesn't force himself on her at inappropriate places, like that piece of shit in the class room. If she means no and stop, he does and talks to her about it. They are in a healthy relationship even if they have clashing personalities. The Author is very much capable of writing characters that respect consent, boundaries and communication about, before and during sexual situations (that includes sex). They just chose not to and added vile garbage on top of the already problematic situations and depictions of the female characters.

Alright, I said all I needed to say.

There's parts of this manga that I really like, and makes me want to keep reading. Then there's other parts I just feel really uncomfortable around. For one just let me say that most of the story is great. The main couple and even the secondary couple are really charming (most of the time) and the thing has a great sense of pacing. Very rarely does it feel like the manga is wasting my time. However some stuff is just kinda uncomfortable. Like later on when a high school girl is kinda forced to live with a guy in his 30's and we're supposed to think it's cute or romantic when he starts sexually assaulting her. I know the age gap thing in Japan is perceived differently than here in America. I know the age of consent is lower. That still doesn't make any of these scenes less weird, and stuff like this kinda just ruins a manga for me.

Still the rest of the story is good stuff. Nothing crazy special but I feel like there's little touches like the main characters not being your completely stereotypical personalities that make this readable. Heck the stuff I found disagreeable is totally subjective, maybe you'll be more ok with it than I was.

Started off as a light cute shounen-type romance, but has devolved into typical creepy josei (yes I know it's technically seinen as it runs in Gekkan Young). All the josei tropes so many find repellent are there; the maudlin backstories to explain loutish, rude behavior, emo posturing disguised as character development, statutory rape by boorish older men presented as romance, etcetera...

This story would have been infinitely better had Saki stuck with the original characters.

Takagi's girlfriend is hilarious with her naivete to, well, everything. She may be borderline annoying, but it seems the author isn't making her a complete idiot, emphasized only when a punchline is needed.

Agreed, this is nice for a light read.

Well...
What i can say, all the love comedy that the autor wanted to show on smash,
its in this manga (so it seems).

Its not a bad thing...actually is kinda nice, but i can see similarities in the mangas.
Like the girl has the same personality has the main character of Smash,
or like the boy has the same as the same personality as the friend of the main character on smash.

Not new... Not refreshing...But for a light read its ok.
