Disappointing ending

I liked the characters way of being, and the explanation for all the failed relationships, but the main one... it feels like it doesn't have a proper ending.

Mixed feelings

It's not easy to write convincing and engaging dim-witted characters, let alone likeable and relatable ones. There are authors capable of doing that and some excelled at it even, but unfortunately this isn't one of those cases. That main guy Mirai was just a frustrating character all around without any merits whatsoever, and it's hard to enjoy reading a whole story about such a wishy-washy and uninspiring personality. Not that the tone of of the manga helped it by any means, when the execution was also generally dull and insipid.
On the other hand despite how much the 'journey' got on my nerves the conclusion of the story actually makes sense to me, especially that moment of self-realisation of what type of feelings the characters have naturally harboured within themselves for a long time just waiting to be formed into words. I found the last few pages of chapter 4 really beautiful both cinematically and emotionally, if only the rest of the manga was of the same quality.

I'd just like to put a counter for the other reviews.

I personally found the depiction of the characters to be really realistic, I think we've all had friends like Mirai who are naive when it comes to love. I completely empathised with Hibiya and personally liked his growth.

I wish I could be as understanding as him towards my friends who are like Mirai. I especially liked when he pulled back his controlling tendency, and didnt force change onto Mirai. He was careful not to belittle Mirai's feelings whereas I probably would have lectured my friends, called them dumbasses for being so unguarded and remind them every single chance I get of their stupidity. But don't you think the lesson is received better if the person learns through making their own mistakes?

The ending could have been more drawn out I guess? Its simplicity works on me though.

It was very Mirai to say how handsome Hibiya has become to him, no further embellishment to his words, it was simple, he said what he felt at the time, which really conveys his sincere character to me. Besides, the exposition of Mirai's feelings only works because it came from Hibiya.

It really isn't bad. Like at all.

Dissappointing ending

You have to wait through all of the uke's failed relationships full of an annoying and confusing lack of communication and then at the end you're left hanging somewhat with uke's romance with the seme. It is not a satisfying ending, because it is made clear that the uke thinks the seme is hot but it isn't clear whether he has romantic feelings for him.
During the whole story, we get to know the boring, sweet, stupid uke fairly well, but we don't get to know anything about the seme except for his obsession with the uke. This story left an icky taste in my mouth despite the debatable "happy" ending.

This isn't the type of story I'd generally go for but I was intrigued and it was truly something different but the main characters are bland and the pay off was weak as hell. But I'm relieved there was a happy ending!
