Of course, this is James freaking Bond right to where he belongs from.
I mean, I stumbled upon this thinking it couldn't be, and turned out they did have it in manga adaptation. 1960s Bond, literally. I was surprised to see no such comment left here, I mean, it is pop cult!
Art/aesthetic wise, I don't know whether it was Sean Connery or Osamu Tezuka strong influence to this very 1960s manga but darn, it was that good looking.
Plot wise, like the mangaka I got to know thru the interview here, I too had not read Fleming's original Bond novels, but I could say for sure I have seen all of Bond films enough to remember that this manga, the mangaka had four series, chronologically: Live and Let Die, Thunderball, On Her Majesty's Service, and The Man with the Golden Gun (said, he chose these because of its pretty title lol), to which it broken into two major villains: Big and Scaramanga. Overall, it lived up to the expectation for seinen style.
Character wise, I personally think Mr. Big took too much, look, he took all those first series by himself! Though in first series, Live and Let Die, it could have led to some character development of his regarding blonde woman thing, there had to be more into it. .
As for Scaramanga in the last series, The Man with The Golden Gun, I think it was best of all series with other characters of the latter, my personal favourite. First, Live and Let Die, was my second fav. Third, Thunderball. And, lastly but not the least, On Her Majesty's Service which was supposed to impress thru Bond's actual romance but it wound up so-so, tho I liked that woman's father.
Women in Bond, well, just like Silent Generation around that time which is understandable. Not that different of both 1960s Bond films and manga but still, 1960s Bond women in film were wayyyyy cooler.
I couldn't stop replaying films of the same four titles have seen inside my mind while reading these series, well, of course it was different but at least one or two main characters of both universe were present.
In the end, it was worth it in the last days of Mangarock lol.
