Starts strong, drags a little in the middle and partially recovers by the end

This mystery manga started quite strong, there were many questions and the setting and characters were interesting. The middle part was dragging a bit and art was less good. The last few chapters managed to recover the manga to the level it started at. All in all good read, maybe it could have been shorter (or not).

MADE IT TO CHAPTER 10...

Then I got sick of the stripped-down, angular art, and the similarly-irritating fact that the characters are always yelling out their reactions. In general, there is an absence of a true sense of how people (or humanistic androids) in this kind of mysteriously difficult situation would react, especially if they were a female and male. Occasionally they would fall silent out of despair. Sometimes one or both of them would cry. Every once in a while they would shut up and QUIETLY try to think out their situation. They would probably even do some kissing and hugging for comfort's sake.

I think what's happening is we're getting here the general style of behavior of characters in the all-to-common macho-magical-fighting type of manga. I happen to really hate those, so much so that when a promising sci-fi manga like this enters into that mode of behavior for multiple chapters, I usually drop it. This case is no exception.

However, most readers of this review probably don't share my intense dislike for macho posturing. In addition, I can see that there is a good sci fi concept lurking somewhere behind all the yelling and moaning. Accordingly, lots of you may love this manga, so I gave it an 8, even though to me it deserves a much lower rating just for being irritating.

BOTTOM LINE: The Melancholy of You-Know-Who is a very hard act to follow!

Downward spiral.

This started with a really interesting premise, but later a large proportion of it devolved into standard rom-com dynamics, with dozens of pointless ecchi scenes to boot.

It's still okay, but it could have been interesting.

I like the way author developed every single line of story. If it goes to Sci-Fi it is perfectly described and have solid basis. Then it is goes to romance its heart so warming and touching. And then it is about ecchi... ooooh yeeees, its ecchi =D

At first the manga made me think of the Matrix, but it turned out better than expected. Plot is relatively easy to guess though.

Love the clean art and easily recognizable characters.

About halfway through the first volume, it becomes less unnecessarily emotionally dramatic. It also makes the courageous choice of conveying everything that the characters know so far, so I can feel engaged by the plot and the efforts of the characters; it's nice to have manga that are actually "living in the present" rather than using their plot as a lame prompt to gradually reveal characters' back stories. In short, it turns out that there are no noticeable plot holes (if any) and the plot is interesting and relatively easy to understand, with great pacing. On top of that, the characters are likable and getting more likable. This is a manga that I'd recommend without reserve to someone who thinks that he or she is capable of liking a manga with these genres and tags.

So, after the first volume, I have to say it's pretty cool. The plot is interesting, the art is nice and it seems to be getting a bit deeper with time. I'm gonna hope the authors won't make it worse with time (as it's pretty common with manga).

The art is good, the story interesting and really well-done for now, so that one has great potential... the classic question this manga kind of asks: should an android, with human-like thoughts, be called a "conscious being"?
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
And more specifically, was the main character "programmed" to think on its own, and to be the friend of the heroine, the only human of the story?

this manga looks like it's an exploration of the P-Zombie thought experiment(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_zombie)
or the Simulation hypothesis(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis)
remember that we hadn't perceived how our bodies where made until recently or did we?
let alone to explain consciousness
