It's extremely cute and gives off a very fluffy feeling while reading it. I actually laughed at the comedy at quite a few places. I have to say that it was both a brilliant idea to put in a human pet, non-human owner and it was executed brilliantly. While there are some moral issues and some people might be easily offended by this as she is pretty much a captive, but I don't really feel like this should be considered as anything more wrong than the harem slave thing going on in so many isekai novels/manga. It might even be less serious.
I don't like how some humans are raised for food though. Just one of the minor world settings here. It's just a bit weird because humans tend to differentiate between "livestock" and "pets". A "pet" animal should never be raised for food and since this world seems to be identical but with beasts taking the place of humans, the rules should be the same. Not as if it doesn't happen in some places though. Sometimes the author seems to make a huge issue of it. I wonder if it's to add some drama? Seems that humans, weirdly enough, are more prevalent as rare livestock than anything else.
Oh, and be warned, when he brings her to his parents' house, his mother mistakes her as a gift and kinda wanted to butcher her for food, something he quickly intervenes to stop while protecting her... I kinda find stuff like that to be a bit annoying because it truly doesn't do well in a manga with a mood such as this. The author should've done away with the whole "humans can be treated as livestock as well as pets" thing. Maybe the author wanted to show how the dog mc protects her? Maybe something else? Perhaps he thought it was realistic(even though it's obviously extremely unrealistic that a human who costs so much to raise and has so little meat would be raised for food, obviously they'd have to be freaking retarded to do so, just imagine how much they'd eat to even grow up or sustain themselves)... In the first place, I always did wonder what the deal was with mothers in some stories and their habit to assume that something brought by the son should be killed or used without asking him first. It's far from the first time I've seen this happen. Especially in this particular case, I mean, he clearly doted on her(hugged her close to him etc) and even told his mother to be careful with the claws because humans are delicate, so why did she assume she was meant as food? Come on. Just something to think about, but I don't feel like it was a big deal, just ignore it and move on. Every author out there makes mistakes or stupid decisions now and then. I just feel that he's playing the whole "eat the human" thing a bit too much now and then. I'm not really one to care about stuff like this since I've read quite a lot of things FAR worse than just eating humans(usually chinese novels) but it just feels out of place and in the way here as it's not supposed to be that type of manga. It knocks off 1 point from the overall score.
The wolf mc is truly a great guy who loves his "pet" with all his heart and more. It's somehow quite moving to see how the girl also opens up to him despite actually hating and even being afraid of dogs(she's a cat person) and gradually starts to like him more due to his all-out effort in giving her attention and pampering her.
It's an episodic manga about their relationship, how he does his best to become a good owner and make her accept him and how she gradually seems to adapt to her situation and perhaps accept it while building a relationship with her new owner. I do hope that she will somehow be able to study their language later on and learn how to talk with them, would be cool to see a romantic ending where both of them get married, I'd like that. Might not be accepted over there though since they see humans as pets and honestly he doesn't seem to like her in that way at all. He's more like something of a doting pet owner or even a doting parent.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes fluffy, cute manga with some comedy mixed in. At the very least, it's worth reading.
