During the last summer of his high school, Rintaro was once again beat by his rival, Fujisawa, in the "Tour de Okinawa" junior international 120km road race, even despite his best efforts. Both boys aspire to compete in the word renown "Tour de France", but Rintaro's life comes crashing down with just one phone call. He was told his family were in a car crash, with his mother and sister dying, and his father left in a vegetative state. Now, with the only thing on his mind being paying for his fathers medical bills, he switches gears and goes into the world of bettable bike racing.
