Ugh what can I even say. Firstly I don’t like this author’s art style - never did - but I remember I liked her other works enough, like Her ID Was Gangnam Beauty, so I thought I’d give this a try too. But I disliked the art style here even more. You’d think the art would improve over the years, but I disliked this because of her art even more. This is so weird because it’s a first for me. Usually the art gets better, but that wasn’t the case here.
The plot and drama in this one was also so WEIRD. The way it’s portrayed was… to me, awful. I personally feel the characters’ thoughts and growth are not shown very well. And yet there’s so many panels of just the characters themselves, staring at something with no dialogue (again, weird). It was done poorly, especially in the beginning and middle.
Also, the males in this WEBTOON are absolutely useless. The dad, the two guys — they have no use to the plot, especially the dad. Most spineless character ever.
There is zero romance in this series. Ryugeong is extremely sweet and stays by FL’s side throughout, but FL does NOT acknowledge him at all. And nothing is said about their relationship. It’s so stupid because he’s so instrumental to her growth and supportive. Without him, she wouldn’t be able to do anything.
The mom is a complete psychopath. But nothing about this is explicitly mentioned and it’s just swept under the rug. There are major themes and instances of trauma and yet, again, nothing about it is done.
The only thing that I DID like about this was that it was about art. The sculptures and art drawings were impressive and you can tell the author did her homework. I could really appreciate it. But that’s all. The artists in this series are too insane for my liking.
It also has good plots - there was a huge twist around the end that was really good and no one saw it coming - but the storytelling of it was so awful that I can’t say much about it. This series is worthy of being adapted into a kdrama and I’m sure it’ll do really well as a kdrama because the plot is actually interesting in essence, but the way it’s drawn and portrayed was soooo bad…. 😂
