High-schooler Nishino Aoi is a history nut who's in the archery class at his school. Due to his skill in archery, he sometimes thinks that he's more suited to the Sengoku period of Japan. If he lived then, he imagines he might even have a girl like his clubmate Seno-san as his wife. As it is, Seno-san is his friend and the girlfriend of his childhood friend Kouta.

Crap manga that only looks to impress with shock scenes. Leaving the setting aside, the plot is rather weak and incongruous as are the sengoku period personages actions (namely Hideyoshi and Tokugawa).
Similarly to another manga, Higanjima, this starts as a strong character driven survival manga but also unfortunately like Higanjima the manga eventually derives into a one dimensional never-ending action gauntlet. The major difference is that for Gunjou Senki this happens a lot sooner and quite frankly the lead character is quite limited whereas Higanjima becomes better and better before eventually dithering out.
