(I'm writing this as I read it, sofar I am only 1 volume in).

Even before Gintama ended, I was lamenting over how another good comedy series had transformed into a moody downer drama. I wanted something that would stay a comedy from beginning to end. Since Konosuba managed to deliver that, I had faith because this series is by the same author.

I'm hoping this stays episodic & doesn't delve too deeply into character development, because that's always when they start developing long story arcs & start getting too serious. If I wanted to read something like that, I wouldn't look for it in a comedy.

This series is close enough to Konosuba in flavor that you could believe it took place in the same universe or even be an alternate universe take on the same story. Both are about a man transported to an RPG-like world where he meets a blue haired girl, a loli, & a busty blonde, & they do animal quests for money. The biggest difference is that the hero actually has a life goal he wants to achieve & a rival who follows him into this world.

It doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, straight or gay, this series has eyecandy for everyone. Sexy women, lolis, shirtless men, wolf furries, catgirls. There's straight, yuri, & bara shipteasing.

This is a harem in to most technical sense, as almost everyone has friendzoned eachother. We have a chaste hero with the heart of a child who is mistaken by the entire populace of this world as a bisexual pervert, due to his apparent disdain for clothing & love of snuggling anything fluffy regardless of gender. You show him a naked girl, he only sees a pair of fluffy ears & a tail. He is a hoarder who collects animals & sees furries more as animals than people.

Linda Blair, a gigantic dragon disguised as a Loli, develops an either sibling-like or daughter-like relationship with Genzo, like Kagura did with Gintoki in Gintama, & also like Kagura, only thinks about food & eating, & is ridiculously strong despite her small stature. While friendly & childish around her comrades, she is rather stoic & cold with anyone else. I haven't seen a character this consistently obsessed with food since Volta from The Arcana.

Shigeru is a gold digger & a penny pincher. Her relationship with Genzo is almost mom-like or something akin to a manager. Carmella is an egotistical lolicon vampiress & the buttmonekey punching bag of the series. She & Genzo don't get along, but she has a crush on Linda Blair. Wolfgag & Mischa are basically Team Rocket trying to steal Ash's Pikachu, that Pikachu being Genzo's Earth puppy Hiroyuki. MAO bears a strong resemblance to Rin Matsuoka from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, if he abused steroids for years, & has that same unintentionally (?) homoerotic rivalry with Genzo that Rin had with Haruka, which is paralleled in yuri form with the rivalry between Linda Blair & Yuanna, & then there's the giant ant.....

Not the best out there, but it does its job. The start was a bit boring except for the thing with the german suplex of the princess but it gets pretty funny and manages to try different things to keep itself interesting and funny even to the end. Give it several chapters before saying whether you hate it or not.

Unlike the other reviewer, I find it funny. Yes there are personality quirks, but seeing them play out in new and different circumstances keeps it fresh. Also one of the few wrestling mc's to give wrestling the justice it deserves.

What's good about this:

The protagonist in this is.... the best protagonist ever. He's epic. He's absurd. He's absurdly epic. He's the paragon of animal lovers. He seems to have no influence from either taboos or natural human tendencies. The first thing he does when he arrives on the standard RPG world in this new (and already overused and worn out) "isekai" Japanese genre, when the princess who summons him asks him to eliminate magical beasts who "infest" their world, is he grabs the princess and body slams her without hesitation. Because he will be hearing NOTHING of any notions of hurting any magical beasts. It cuts to 6 months later, and he's proposing to a stray cat. And yes, I mean a marriage proposal. Not a girl with cat ears and a tail. Not an anthropomorphic furry cat woman with a human figure. Not a talking human-sized cat. A small cat, who isn't capable of understanding him, while he completely assumes the cat understands everything he says as he tries to argue his way into her heart. Notable quotes from chapter 8: "Today I'm going to the path where stray cats usually walk, to lie down and get stepped on by their paws". "He got that nickname because he harassed every new magical beast he encountered by hugging them." If a girl flirts with him, to him, it doesn't matter what she looks like, unless she at least has cat ears and a tail, she's a 0 out of 10.

What's not:

The problem is, 8 chapters in, there doesn't seem to be a plot. It's just this run-on gag, about how ridiculous he is. The author isn't DOING anything with him (yet), this manga has yet to get off the ground. He's just running an unprofitable pet shop (largely because he keeps refusing to sell animals to potential customers) in a fake RPG world and sitting around being ridiculous. He's a great character but that alone isn't enough, you can't just have a great character and have him sit around doing nothing. And even if something happens at this point, I've just lost patience with it. This would be more suitable to be cut down to a series of 4 panel gags and then put in a comic strip section in a weekly newspaper, than to make it into poorly formed serial chapters.
