...And I'm pretty hard to please. I find this manga delightfully complex and riveting. Gorgeous art, amazing characters, probably Yun Kouga's masterpiece if she actually finishes it.
I've heard a lot of people complaining about Ritsuka as a protagonist because he is naive or because he defends his mother's abuse. Okay. 1. HE'S TWELVE. Pretty mature for twelve, but still a kid that's getting used to how the world works. Of course he's going to be a little naive- it wouldn't be realistic if he wasn't. 2. As a child who's been abused, I found Ritsuka's reaction to his mother both realistic and relatable. Abused kids often defend their attackers because they don't really understand what is being done to them, or because they find it justified. And Ritsuka really loves his mom, of course he's going to defend her.
ANYWAYS, this manga is pretty dark, not for the kiddies. Regardless, one of my top threes.

One of a kind

Beware! This story is not your sweet, easy going story. It is dark. You´ve been warned! The story is deep and there is a lot of angst in it, but it is skillfully created and you might find yourself falling in love with it. The characters are really deep and entrancing. The illustrations are GREAT! I particularly love the ear thing ( It is SO cute!!!). The naïveté of the characters is really refreshing, as is their way of hoping for the best when everything suggest the worse.

The story has a lot of twists and turns and is not so easy to follow, but it is certainly worth your time!!!

At first I watched the anime and I thought it was interesting but there were things i didn't get so I decided to read the manga because of that.
The manga is actually better than the anime, you come to understand everything little by little and the weird things get sense...In the anime i didn't understand soubi at all.

Super lovers and hypocrisy

I'm not really a fan of neither of super lovers or loveless. But seeing how this one is on hiatus and the other one is still going got me thinking.. both have the same controversial thematic yet people accept the other one. Like imho loveless at least has a deep story with complex lore, while the other in the manga there's this constant teasing of the seme wanting to f him like it's way more explicit yet it's accepted wtf.

Loveless was one of the those readings I made when I first started watching anime and manga, it is what got me here after all these years, and I got to say the atmosphere it gives is what got me totally into it.

The history touches very mature and hard topics that might be uncomfortable for lots so you have to be careful while reading it. In the romance field don't expect something cute, the relationship is very questionable (the age gap) and they are very dependent of each other to be in control of themselves, both have it hard and the world doesn't make it better.

So sad that is in an eternal hiatus, is very good and I wish there was at least a reason from author about why it doesn't have a continuation.

Cute, girly, dark, with a dash of pedophilia

It's a little confusing at parts. I love the characters and the plot is different in a weird way. I love the unique fighting style, too. But like I said, it can be a little confusing. It changes a lot from being super sweet to super depressing and dark. I own all the volumes that are out so far in America and I love it. Truthfully, when you read this manga, you won't be reading it for the plot, but probably more for the characters. Overall, a very girly read. If that makes sense.

But you should definitely give it a shot. I'd read about this before but I never bothered to read it. It sounded like some washed out boys love version of Sailor Moon. I was very surprised how much I liked it. While it does have that fantasy element, and while it does have a touch of shonen ai and shojo ai (girls love) its actually a MUCH darker story.

One of murder, abuse, attachment...this story isnt what its described to be. And actually its not something a younger audience should read. Its rated OT for older teen for a good reason. Its not about fluff balls and cute little neko boys, its a rather serious story.

The anime is alright, but the manga fills in the holes and provides the details you need. If you've only watched the anime the manga picks up from where it left off at about the middle of Vol. 4, but read the manga from the beginning anyway. There's tons of details that are missed.

I never thought I would like anything like this, how VERY wrong I was. This is easily in my top ten!

So far...
My favourite thing about the manga has to be the fighting style. It's just so very, very interesting, the way attacking and defending relies on words, belief in those words, and the ability to twist them. It's fantastic.
The other thing I like is the relationship between Ritsuka and Soubi. It's quite different from the type of relationships that I normally like, but it's just as interesting. Usually, I go for the relationships in which the characters are working both with and against each other, and both being (for lack of a better way of putting it) in control. And I don't mean 'of each other', but of the situation in general; pairings I usually like are ones between the people (plural) who are calling the shots. Soubi and Ritsuka, while they're still (kind of) working with and against each other, are decidedly not in control of the situation and are really quite clueless. It's almost bizarre how different this makes everything.
Other than that...
The art gets a thumbs up from me, but I'm not sure how long the plot will be able to hold my attention for. It's looking pretty bland. (...um, I'm kind of harsh on plot. I think people disagree with me on that.)

saw the anime first and that was confusing..so I decided to read the manga after 2 years..hehe.. the art is cute..I love it when they go into chibi mode and when they snuggle and nibble each other. They look like real cats. I keep on wondering what will happen to Soubi and Ritsuka. I hope something good will happen.

Go ahead and read it. Even without the yaoi flavor you'll sure to enjoy the cuteness and the story. hehe ^_^

Overrated - terrible plot

when you start reading, it seems like this manga has a super complex plot that will slowly unravel. But it didn't take long for me to realize that the mangaka has no idea what shis doing, and she's basically making stuff up as she goes along.

We have no explanation what so ever about the special school, the powers or the fights.

The part about his brother is going absolutely nowhere.

Ritsuka's relationship with Soubi is basically nonexistent. Soubi is still in love with Ritsuka's brother and Ritsuka is a 12 year old who's clearly not interested in dating anyone, men or women, and specially not super creepy masochist stalker dudes.

Maybe all the fuss is because of the cat ears thing? We won't see Ritsuka loosing them in this manga, that's for sure. Te mangaka won't have time for that with all the plot holes she has to fix.

Also, she said once that started this manga because she wanted to draw pretty boys, thus the lack of plot. She also said that won't draw sex scenes. Then why make it shounen-ai? The story could have worked better without the (almost) gay parts. And she could make a side story to show Soubi's creepy pedo stalker shota complex tendencies or whatever.

The only strong point in my opinion is that the art is pretty.
