So I'm one of many who absolutely despise this story for reasons that I won't get into too much spoiler territory. But basically, the final novel is an absolute garbage heap. Completely ruins the entire progress of the story for the last, oh, yep, 20 volumes.

Which is a huge shame, because up until that dumpster fire of an ending, I quite enjoyed the series, even if it got really boring at times. The author has a tendency to hyper-focus on something incredibly small and mundane and write about it for large lengths of times. And I don't mean like plot points, I mean things like what might occur in real life (like going to the store and buying something) and then expanding upon it. But yeah, those are minor complaints to be honest. The cast is fun, the character development is GREAT, the plot varies between great and boring, but more of the former than the latter.

...except that ending, that literally 100% ruined this series for me. I can be objective enough to say that I DID enjoy it in the past, but now all I taste is ash and salt. It's ruined. Save yourself the bitter disappointment and agony and just skip this trash. Has absolutely one of the worst endings I've ever come across. Not just "I didn't like it", but rather "You destroyed your own continuity for this, and dumped 20 volumes worth of character development after taking a sharp left turn".
