So yeah, this is pretty much a waste of time. Which, you know, can have its uses if you're trying to mindlessly waste time lol.

So the main problem with this story, is that its... hmmm... "unintentionally" comedic. Like if this had the comedy tag, and took itself slightly less seriously, it might be pretty passable (not good, but passable). Too bad it doesn't have the tag, (nor should it) and it takes itself incredibly seriously. The MC is a shameless little bandit. Which DOES have its benefits: he's unscrupulous, willing to go to pretty much any lengths, and uses his wits more than anything. But he's not a villainous protagonist (he's not nearly evil enough). Side note: he's not a reincarnator or anything like that. He's a straight up former bandit. He's arrogant, cocky, and an all-around annoying little shit. Which, if this were a comedy, would be pretty funny. But nope, it's not, so he's just a DB.

Setting aside the MC though, you have the utter dregs of the worst of the worst xianxia tropes. Every single person in the sect is an incredibly evil moron. There is absolutely no way the sect would've succeeded in surviving until now, as it's not so much infested with termites, as it is created entirely out of termite dung. And yes, this is supposedly a righteous sect. Literally everyone is corrupt. And I don't mean evil like in a Demonic sect, i mean they're all corrupt. The MC doesn't really come across any treasure or plot items like in standard stories... here his entire cultivation is literally 100% stolen from others. But it's ok, because they were all scum who were going to kill him anyway. (sigh - why do they even try to justify this crap?).

One of the only positive things I've got to say about this novel is that the MC is a child, and it is shown surprisingly well. He's still a child-of-a-bandit-clan, and isn't opposed to murder (which is funny, because his bandit clan was supposedly a robin hood style set of bandits, that ONLY focused on corrupt officials), yet at times... he clearly screws up with simple mistakes. Like he's literally always attacked by the guy who he just stole from, then their older brother, then their older brother, then their girlfriend, then their master, etc. You know that stupid trope. But here, as soon as it looks like he'll escape a current chain of causality (no more older brother disciples left!), he'll make a childish error that will get him into the next frying pan.

It would serve to make him more human (it's certainly better writing lol) except it weren't for the aforementioned fact that it's just used to bring out the next mindless stupid Young Master (and Family).

All in all, as I said, this is a waste of time. But it's not wholly without worth. Just mostly.
