Big task to adapt the novel
by BepsRose

The novel is LONG and I think still ongoing. Multiple plot lines develop that make things very complicated, characters come and go and come back between story arcs. The world building in the novel is immense and deep. It's actually impressive.

However, that's the novel. Adapting it to a webtoon must be quite daunting. The first season I think was done well, but it covers maybe 5% of what has been published of the novel. I'm excited to see it, but it'll take 10 years to adapt the whole story. And we don't even know if the ending will make the ride worthwhile yet.

Also, it's not harem. The people around him actually end up noticing and gossiping about how he's surrounded by women, but they're actually just really capable fighters. There IS mild romance in that he has mutual feelings with 1 character (but of course things can't be easy) and there's a different character who acts crazy yandere to him. That's it. There's a great female cast that are all badass and don't just exist for the sake of the ML

strong start but peters out quickly

3/10. The story gets off to a really strong start but disappointingly devolves into mediocre chaff.

In early chapters the hero desperately struggles to survive a level one goblin trap which is great tension, but as the story develops so too does the hero develop invulnerable plot armor which dutifully wipes away any suspense.

Interesting combat tactics and decision-making in early chapters -- for example, an arm being disabled forcing the protagonist to choose which of his two weapons suits the situation better -- are replaced by plot contrivances as he conveniently manifests whatever item or ability he needs to adapt to the problem which was introduced only 3 panels earlier.

The moment it feels like the hero starts to develop chemistry with one of the (predominantly female) supporting cast the author contrives a way to sideline them for the foreseeable future in favor of introducing some new potential love interest as we barrel towards a nonsense harem ending.

The hero's early internal conflict of adjusting morals to a violent new environment goes nowhere as he just becomes an unrepentant murderhobo while side characters similarly discard their principles in favor of becoming sycophants mindlessly justifying his decision making to the audience.

All in all it seems like the author of the original source material had enough ideas for an average setting and a few readable early chapters and then had no creative juice left so they just pumped out whatever day by day, which has bled into this visual adaptation

Smart MC, hard working. The story always has him struggling to survive and there is real tension, but not to the point of being depressing.

Wow this is a gem within this genre. Not sure what it is but it just feels fresh!

-2 stars because they nerfed the only buff bodybuilder looking woman in the series and turned her into a typical slender lady that would have more mainstream s*x appeal. I liked her as a buff female buffoon why did they have to change that? Lame.

i don't usually read this kind of theme targeted to male readers: transmigrated in a game, and just level up because i usually find them too overpowered or Gary-Stu-like protagonist. But THIS ML is a fave. I love how its reasonable that he becomes strategic since he invested time playing this game for 10 years and is level-headed in tackling their problems. He's not excused to danger, and even makes a trade-off during a battle for survival (no matter how low-level the opponents be). Fight scenes are intense and you just can't help but root for him.

I just hope this work won't lose its charm and will keep on getting better. But so far, loving it!

+1 on Lokin's comment too

Very engaging to read

Surprisingly enjoyable for the genre it is (transmigrate to a game/novel) where the outcomes are usually super unpredictable. I like how even minor monsters like lvl1 Goblin are hard to beat, makes it even more engaging and elevates the sense of danger. Where every miniscule mistakes are scrutinized and can be penalized.

The first chapters are really strong and intense. I haven't read the novel though so I'm skeptical to see if the author would be able to maintain that quality.

The author is making a convincing argument on why roguelikes are such a good genre to adapt from if you want to add high stakes (unlike other genres like MMORPG which is more chill on the SoL side).

One of my favorite webnovels

I'm surprised to find this one being made in a web Manhwa.
From all the Korean Novels/Manwha I've read so far this one is in my top five. I even dare compare it with Solo Leveling. But be wary of cliffhangers (nine out of the ten chapters ends in a cliffhanger in the novel), that just says how well it is written.

Now that the story is translated in art, I really like the drawings and atmosphere. The only negative point are probably the legs aren't draw well.

For people that don't know, it's available as a webnovel in Korean for around 500+ chapters (ongoing) and in English on the Yonder App around 170+ chapters ongoing (one chapter free daily).
