Rough start

I figured I'd try a new shonen and the art looks nice but eh, so far it has a p generic story other than the teenage MC who is 15 but apparently doesn't attend school because of reasons. I feel like it's half baked idea and the world-building is still minimalistic, to say the least.

Later on, I noticed that they ended up

fridging one of the girls that the MC befriends and I'm like huh I figured so but instead of feeling sad or upset, I feel pretty empty since there wasn't much of a build-up with the relationship as it was like 1 chapter.

Also, the random whiplash between meeting someone and then finding out their entire tragedic backstory in the few next pages I don't really think is a good way for long-term story telling.

The oneshot is better

It's totally fallen off as a longform story -- the pacing sucks, the worldbuilding is clumsy, and characters have no room to breathe and exist alongside each other. Read the oneshot instead. It's much stronger, and we get a genuinely excellent and complete story with much tighter narration. On a personal note, I much prefer Sister Tao's design in the oneshot (I'm a sucker for tanktops) but generally there is better contrast between Tao and Alma in the oneshot too. Man, so disappointed that the serialisation isn't drawing me in like I'd hoped.

I agree with CCheshire. Chapter 3 was particularly disappointing. Whoever the editor is that approved the final version needs to be fired. It looked like it just came off the manuscript. You could see the lines and noncolored/half finished backgrounds. I've seen axed Manga with better work than that sloppy display.
