This is one of the author's early works, probably the first long series, but you can already see her habit in art & storytelling, it doesn't change much afterwards.
I am wondering why characters who tend to jump to conclusion, be pessimist, doubtful, lacking in self-confidence always appear in Young Animal. At first, judging by the title, I was hoping to see a character who never thinks deeply, but instead I got two characters who are simultaneously foresighted and dumb. But even with such disagreeable personalities, the story progresses nicely, which is what I like about most Ninomiya Hikaru's works.
Even if I haven't read her other mangas before, my rating probably won't change that much; although the style isn't that fresh (but this is actually an earlier work!), the plot is good enough to be considered. The second half of the story lacks dramatic punch though.
