Description

Gon might be a country boy, but he has high aspirations. Despite his Aunt Mito's protests, Gon decides to follow in his father's footsteps and become a legendary Hunter. Definately not like any i have come across. The story makes it seem like you are progressing with the characters and it helps you develop a bond that are based on more than just actions but deep thoughs too. I find everyone well rounded with a reason to live.

This is an awsome not repeditive manga. Sure there are times when you want to put it down for a breather but when you pick it back up you will feel sorry you ever put it down.

I agree with robbit in many ways... It was all pretty good till the author suddenly wet crazy and decided gigantic mutant ants were cool and scary. The art got really awful around then too... it looked like it was a rough draft and no where near complete. But I can't really blame the author, cuz apparently that's when her illness started... but if u ask me I'd rather she put it on hold then give us some crap. Up till the ant ark everything was pretty cool, except sometimes it's dubious who's the real main character.

the maybe "best manga ever made" ruined by two things: 1 long text that distracts from the real plot and 2 characters begin to act,think and talk very retarded since chimera ants saga onwards. If it would not be for this two things HXH would be the manga masterpiece...

There is no point in wasting time on this manga when you can watch 2011 anime version .Anime version is so awesome with one of the best anime music.Manga art is so aweful although it improves later(very very late ) . Only after you have completed anime do read manga chapters that are not made into anime.But even that would be futile because the manga is on permanent hiatus and it will never resume.

I read this manga bcuz my friend said he'd pick up magi if I did HxH, and boy am I regretting doing this wager with him. the manga starts good, but a common reoccurring theme in this manga is : cool intro, great building, awesome climax, then a teeeeeeeerible ending with no satisfying conclusions. like every arc has a terrible ending, which is extremely annoying if you're a guy that likes satisfying closures and concrete conclusions within stories. the action is few and far between, and you'll have to go through a whole lot of jargon before you actually get to the good parts. and to make things worse these good parts are extremely short. maybe the fact that a lot of people harping about how great this manga is set lofty expectations that were never met, but this manga is average it best. way overrated. characters like killua n hisoka however keep it afloat, because if it was only gon and red eyes uchiha wannabe then gosh this manga would be a bore.

There are some major problems with this manga
1.TEXT there is so much text that it is like reading spawn or other awful american comics that was inspired by Chris Claremonts constant need to explain and tell everything in text instead of letting the artist do part of the job
2.Gon omg he is so annoying and easygoing up untill his friend "dies" then he turns into a hulk monster that will kill innocent bystanders and basically becomes an asshole to all his friends
3.so many characters get whole chapters dedicated to them that are just awful and uninteresting
same with explaning diffrent forms of Qi/chi/magic powers and diffrent stages of these said powers
that are then never mentioned again
4.there are basically 2 characters the readers like and want to read about Hisoka and Killua
and when we finally have more interesting characters like the King and Komugi they have to die by poison
the mangaka even brought back pointless characters like Kurapika and Leorio
thanks mangaka
i dont think there is 1fan of Leorio who wanted him back in this series
please kill him off the moment they set foot on the continent

Super powers, magic. At first I simply enjoyed the story, however once Nen was introduced, and the magic silliness really began, it ceased to be fun, and just became another superpower love fest. Not something I want to read. I could as easily read Naruto for that. If thats why you read the manga, then by all means, enjoy. If you're looking for more of a story, then silly superpowers, try something else.

Just another generic power escalation shounen, full of cliches and devoid of originality.

All of the characters fit into standard shounen tropes, formula and action follow shounen tropes, like in every other shounen friendship, honor and bravery are escalated to values above everything else.
Most of the supporting cast exists only to highlight how awesome, strong and brave Gon is, usually in their thoughts - "His potential is limitless", "In his eyes I could only see unwavering resolve", "He's already stronger than I am", "He progressed this much in just four days...", etc.

Another big fault is that it has no consistency, internal logic, or anything of the sort - characters act on impulse all the time, making everything random, unpredictable and just dumb, they keep overcoming their limitations with their will or resolve, making strengths of anything irrelevant, a dumb kid who barely trains bests people who trained for their whole lives because what? Just because he's the main character so he needs to be strong! Also, he's a kid of a super strong guy so he's also super strong. He's also kind, friendly, trusting, loved by animals, cute, fast learner.... you get the idea.

If it's your first shounen ever then you might like it. You might also like it if you're 11-13 years old. Otherwise I don't recommend reading it since you will only be disappointed. 3/10 is the most I can give it.
