Historie takes place in ancient Greece and follows the childhood and adult life of Eumenes, who would grow up to be the secretary and general to Alexander the Great.

Note: Won the 16th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize's Grand Prize in 2012. Won the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival Grand Prize for Manga.

from the art i recognised the mangaka of kiseiju- never been a fan of history as i prefer fiction but as they say facts are stranger and hence more interesting than fiction...besides, the mangaka is a thinker which makes his work a better read than many other works..one thing i like is that he has a habit of making inquisitive characters, those that are a bit emotionless, very intelligent, fascinated by knowledge and even though they dont shirk from gore or violence, arent totally devoid of conscience or morality..it was the parasite in kiseiju and in this one, its the main guy...this is what draws me to the mangaka's works..however, its an EXTREME PITY that kotonoha has put this into temporary hiatus..

He is an amazing story teller.... simple as that. His drawing is typical, not too good or bad but it is the way he develops his characters, plots, basically everything..... simply masterful

First, I want to say this is more mature audiences. Unless you're a kid or an close-minded crank, there's no way to escape this manga's spelling-binding allure. This series so far, has boundless potential. You never know what's going to happen next while dying to know what will happen next.

I wasn't particularly interested in this series at first because the premise seemed a little light. But when I began reading it my eyes became glued to the screen. I wouldn't have stopped if it there were more chapters for me to read. I wholeheartedly recommend this series to anyone who is simply into quality, engaging story-telling and art.

Wonderful... simply wonderful.

One of the best, well-thought out action manga I have ever read, the main character fights with his head, not his heart or with his strength, as is the trend.

By the same mangaka as Parasyte, it will not disappoint.

Historie is without a doubt one of the best-written manga series ever, and it deserves all its praise. I can not find any cliches. The story is grand, ambitios, and captivating, with well rounded characters. It only gets interesting around chapter 10, and at the time of this review it left off in a total cliffhanger (chapter 62). Very excited to see what comes next, this is a series to keep your eye on.

On a very personal bias, I tried not to compare this to Iwaaki's previous work, Parasyte. But I compared them anyways, and I must say, even with Parasyte's few cliches, unanswered questions, and head-scratch moments that make little sense or feel out of place, I prefer Parasyte the inferior work. I'm just waiting for Historie to wow me so I can love it more.

I recommend Historie to anybody. A little warning about the gore, there's tons. Not gratuitous, but still. I hope this manga goes on past at least 20 volumes

Great manga, really, i'm speachless. It's got history, which would be enough for me, and that's not all, it also covers so much more angles of society, different nationalities, interesting tales and the life of Eumenes.

Btw. i've been searching for like a few hours now, but i can't seem to find a way to contact HOX. Anybody know how i could do this ?

Forced dramas, annoying

The story started so so and somewhat annoying/unrealistic characters/plots, then the way author going wild with his imagination was getting more and more absurd as the story progressed. I needed to check from time to time from WIKIPEDIA or the net, just to make sure the lousy plots I was reading is from a historic event or just convenient plots author putting us through. Most of them are just bullshit, It's frustrating.

Eumenes as a historic figure is interesting enough, but author felt the need to make up stories about the man, his lineage & his life to be more sell-able. Even forced tragedy events on the character just so author could have more dramas to work with. So far to the end of volume 12, he'd already forced 3 tragic love events on the character with almost no meaning to the main story but for the sake of drama only. Couldn't utilize the man's real life instead making up tragic stories for selling drama because you can't do anything better to build up character is simply pathetic. So it's result in a dull character that I can't even empathize with.

So, in short it's bad. Despite the name, it's real bad if you're expecting accurate events, it's full of bullshit, fabricated, unrealistic ideas, unnecessary plots, terribly portrayed figures. Even if you decides to ignore the history parts and just take it as an original fiction, it's still bad with all the forced dramas and hollow/unrealistic characters.

I bought 12 volumes thinking it might worth reading. Well, such a waste of money. 🙁

First I'd like to affirm that there is no resemblances with Berserk at all & at any level.
Addictif character & plot backed up by the very powerful & strong historical background. & we're going till Alexander so there will be even more awesomeness inside !!!
